Ok I saw similar posts but I didnt understand what they where talking about.

Basically I have a model I downloaded for free... I do not have any graphic programs. Anyways it was a 3ds file. I used the conv3ds -A filename.3ds that makes it into a .x file. I view with the dirext x mesh viewer But it's not moving. I've also noticed when I try to convert some 3ds files I get a unknown error and it crashes.

This is brand new for me I have no idea what to do. I've read the internet and allot of people say AnimationSet::Load But I have no idea what that means or how to run it.

Anyways can someone give me step by step instructions on how to convert a 3ds animated model into a x file? using only want normally comes with windows ,direct x 9 SDK and dark basic, or will I need more programs?

Also is there a irc channel for dark basic?

Yes,the old version of DB has it in the 'tools' folder in the DB directory.
