To get around save and load simply make each level individualy and put them in seperate folders containing the storyline and objectives and simply implement a password to the .exe and have the password in the final room of the previous level. put them in one big folder make an installer and zip it up. End product: a playable game!

So do most other fps pc games

"

all you gotta do is go into room remember the password that will be on the wall and enter the next room, close game go to the next level folder read the storyline bit, type the password in upon opening the .exe an your're there...oh, see what you mean

Almost, but not quite. Each level would have to be a individual game, having all of the install and game files intact. As such, each level would have to be installed as an individual game. That's what Lost soul meant by taking up a lot of room.

It's an option, but not great.

You could make the first level of the game available on your web site.
Then if someone wanted to play the second level of the game on your web site they would have to type in the password that they found in the first level and so on.
The web site would deal with the passwords instead of the actual game.
Just an idea.

It would work great as an episode system. Make your levels, upload them every week and let people play them.

brilliant idea with 2 miner drawbacks
1. I don't know how to implement a password system
2. I can't make a decent website

That would me my idea.

Displayed a thousand times over, and protected by a thousand patents, comes... Merra Save System.

Just build your game as a regular Game System. And then edit the ini to call the next level.zip

OnePost, could you either explain your Merra Save System in greater detail, or point me to a link where I can learn more about it? I'm very interested.

I've tried that before and it didn't work at all. But perhaps I did something wrong, could you please be more detailed?

Mr. Love, I will respect your right for enterprise, but don't advertize a comercial fix in other peoples threads.

Ben A... I need to install FPSC...
Okay, I did say that wrong (curses at self)

You edit the INI so that levelmax=1
and all other levels are deleted. except the levelfpi1

levelfpi1=languagebank\english\gamebank\Arnec\loadingpage.

edit this each time if you want a different 'loadpage'

Now, the level zips should be named without the zip.

And NOW, when you load a particular 'level' deleted everything in 'testgame' and rename "level"+levelnum to "level1.zip"

It will load THAT level, and is SUBSTANTIALLY more compressed then the 100 exe's version.

And Mr. Love, the answer is allways no. Should have gone with Capital One.
