I know, Iknow, it's a crazy request!
Why not just use MAKE OBJECT PLAIN? I hear you all ask.
Well what I need to do is rotate the plain about it's edge, like a door and if I used DBP's native plain it would rotate about the centre.
I could make a single poly triangle and attach the plain as a limb, then rotate that but it would be easier just to use an X model.

It is a sad day when I have to admit that my modelling skills aren't even up to making a 2 polygon model but it is true. So, does anyone feel like taking on this gruelling task?

I could offer a picture of an apple in return ... here

Thanks

Thank you

Could I ask another favour please?
I need another plain that is 'hinged' at the opposite side. I can't turn off culling and flip this one because the lighting is different and it need to look the same.

Thanks

[Edit] Ignore that ... of course it is the same! Just a momentary lapse of reason!

That was a tough one, eh Dark Coder?

Hmm...couldn't you have just offset the positions of a plain made in DBC with memblocks? Or would that offset the center also...or maybe you could have offset limb 0...oh well, whatever

surely you could have made 2 objects, one a door, as a child to a hinge object, then just turn the hinge object

oh well, its done now

I don't have a sig, live with it.

This is the strangest thing I've ever seen. I'm starting to see how this forums works. This thread was locked....

Here

...but this one wasn't...both team requests. Strange. I am guessing that mods favour older users and not newbies.

This isn't a team request...only a stupid model request, haha, no offense intended Scraggle!

That other thread is more of a team request though, it is requesting "3D models for my RPG", not just one single simple model. I see a significant difference...

Yes especially since scraggle here is asking for a square..and the other guy wanted actual textured characters. Theres quite a difference between clicking 'add plain' and spending weeks modelling a humanoid character.

Here's the difference.

With your linked post, no-one would've gone away and made that RPG character. It's asking too much, with too little detail. Refer to my sticky for further insight*

With scraggle's post, it's done in the blink of an eye. Before you even turned up whinging, it was done, because it's so simple. Is Scraggle being lazy? Perhaps. Is it too much for him to download blender and figure out its crazy ass interface and export options just to make a 2 poly plain? perhaps.

With your point about him being favoured over a newbie, I'd say; rightly so. Check out the 2D board for all the freebie's he's given away. 'bout time he got some kind of compensation.

edit, seems my sticky has been replaced by a summary which is now here

Yup, team requests are not allowed in this section, but not absolutely, some can get away with it if it lacks newb/noob (I know I hate that word, but I'll use it) content, however exceptions are made if the team request can be justified for reasons, also hard working or people who put a lot into the community can be exceptions simply because there is more certianty that they are trusted, its not playing favourites but attempting to be nice as possible with as little spam as possible.

As for model requests its simple, they should really only be allowed if they are realistic, if I saw 'I want a deus ex 2 styled mech model for my game' then its unrealistic (even though I started to model one) if its 'Doesn't any body have a car model laying around I could use' then maybe there are comments from people like use turbo squid, but I can understand why these type of threads are not locked as for 'could you model a plain' its a model so simple scraggle could do it himself, but that would mean the hassle of download a program and working out how to make a model that with rotate on the desired axis

Yey! I removed the sig...

I've just seen another request which has gone un ... un ... un moderated, for want of a better word.

@Uncle Sam

You're right. There is a definate prejudice against newer forum members. However, perhaps that is justified. I'm sure we've all seen the ambitious newcomers, wanting to make "GTA meets Morrowind" and everyone knows it'll be a waste of time. However, more mature forum members come along, ask for something and everyone's jumping over each other to help them out.

I think the moderators need to review the policy on either jumping on, or not jumping on 3D model requests.
