No its very bad, if you want an honest opinion. You can make about 3 different small games overall, if you want to make games, take some initiative and learn to code.

Don't be so negative! It's good if you want to make a decent game in seconds. But if you want to be serious about game-making, spring for DBPro! (Well, FPSC is GREAT, but only if you want to make FPS games)

If you've tried the demo and you like it,then its for you but I would say that FPSC is the way to go.
Learning DBClassic or DBPro would offer alot more freedom but you do need to program.

BTW if you do go with Gamemaker3D pay particular attention to the license.

@Odd Mind
Do you acctually have it? I do. And it's more customisable than the showcase screenies show! (No offence, TGC)

whats the point in defending it? it is rubbish end of story, you basically just get to choose which model takes that models place.

Have you used it DarkCoder?

I don't think it's as bad as people make out, it's for kids - basic rule of thumb is that if it costs the same as a game and lets you create games with a freakin mouse, it's for kids. Adults simply do not get it. I suppose it's assumed that because nobody on the forum really uses it, then it must be rare, I imagine TGC probably sold a good amount of it, it's just it's a gift purchase, like nan's buying PC stuff for their grand kids, it's that sort of product and as that sort of product it delivers the goods adequately.

My son likes it for simply messing around, making mad race tracks or mazes. Yeah, mazes - you can make simple mazes in it, position barrels and furniture to design levels, muck around with the models (like giving a soldier a pair of wheels instead of legs). It depends what you expect for £20 at the end of the day. At his age I loved SEUCK, there has to be these easy options folks, otherwise kids can't access this stuff until much later. That's a situation best avoided.

yes i used to own it till i moved and 'forgot' to pack it, it was fun but after a while you realise how very limiting it was, if i hadnt have bought it then i would have never got dbc(like the next week) so i suppose its purchase gained some good .

Try the FPSC demo, you should be able to find it pretty easily here. It's £40 or around about that, and is easy to use.

I'm not saying that you will be able to make AAA games with it, it's something to impress your buddies, have some fun with, and hopefully expand on. Like there's a few avenues from FPSC to look into, mainly Modelling and Coding - the engine source code is supplied, and loading a level in DBPro is very straightforward, so it is a really good learning step, and you can make a FPS game over a weekend, not too shabby. FPSC would teach you a great deal about game design and how engines work.

TGC releasing the engine source code is kinda like Fisher Price making a 'My First Alarm Clock', then giving it functions to control the fabric of time itself . There's not a lot of people doing much with the engine code it has to be said, Ryker9 is the only major project - but I think that things will improve for FPSC users before too long, TGC's kinda busy right now and FPSC won't get a look in till things calm down.

As I said, grab the demo and have a play.

yes he did.

Ive played about 4 games made in that program and they were all 3rd person game with the same conrtols and diffrent models slapped in there.

I totally agree with van b here. Its great for certain age groups, i think i actually said that above.

FPSC is a great place to start. You can make a game in minutes.
It is easy to learn.download the demo and try it out.
Once you get the hang of it and you buy the full version you can do more advanced things with it.
You can import your own models, buildings, streets, etc.
FPSC is one of those programs where you get out of it what you put into it.
