To be honest we can't tell who is legit anymore and who is thieving b*stard pirate who deserves to be burnt alive for doing so

I know one member who uses pirated versions of his software, although very tempting, I will not mention his name, even if the last thing I said to him was a flame

Anyway, back to constructive mode (Mode? It doesn't sound right)
Thats the thing with some modelling programs, you have to set it into editable mode first, simply because in some apps you will find when not in editable mode you can control the primitive objects number of polygons etc and when you can edit it you lose that ability

bottom right corner is all of your buttons for your view command navigation..

also you can customize just about every command/button to hotkeys and such but you better stick to just learning the program for now...

to say the 3ds help files are comprehensive is an understatement.

but to save you a bit of time, hold the middle button, and play with the mouse and ctrl, alt and shift keys.

i hope we're not going to get another followup question about how to extrude now, followed by "how do i make a man?"

I don't have a sig, live with it.

I think it was more sarcasm reflecting most of the community rather than a flame, but tone is something you can't easily interpret on the net

If you registered for the trial you should be able to download the help files, as well as some of the tutorials.

Du bist ein Hanchien? rofl. Du bist mein Essen Fu:r heute nachmittag essen. Meine keyboarden schreibt keine umlauten, das ist blo:d.

snowfall i think sepp hit the nail on the head. I wasnt making fun of you or flaming you i was simply stating that usually applications come with documentation to solve simple questions like this. At least there is a large community with tons of tutorials to help you out. I sugggest as well as a number of other people to find a noob to max tutorial to get all the basics down. That will help you faster and more efficiently than any of us here can do.
