Just like it says, quite a few people complain about errors over the internet, I just want to confirm if that is true or not...

Hi,

Downloaded the file but no sign of an executable when I extracted it.

Cheers, Rich.

EDIT: Copied the FPSC-Game.exe from the main FPSC folder and it ran, I can try and join whenever you're ready, cheers.

Yeah, I found a little difficulty uploading with the exe, so I cut it out... most people have an fpsc-game.exe anyways.

Starting server now...

Okay, started trying joining the server at 11pm.

1. Saw your hosted game on the list, enter ID, started game, went to "waiting to join" message

2. Checked my router settings and forwarded the port 2303 for MP. Continued same as point 1 and same message

Did notice that when the Join Game screen came up your IP was listed as 192.168.1.2 - I wouldn't have thought that this was your actual IP as it's a very generic network ID. In fact I've got a feeling that it is my Network ID.

Is this to be expected?

Cheers, Rich.

Okay... that is a network IP...
However you just comfirmed that it does transmit out of the network... so that means I am broadcasting, and you are just receiving...

if you can't connect I am gonna swap out the router cable and connect direclty to the box.

Curses....

Okay, I did terminate the host... but it appears my computer hates me, I can't connect the modem cable to my computer anymore...

Tried again, but as expected same result.

My PC is pretty well set-up for a number of games I play over LAN and internet (tcp/ip). I've got Norton & that always asks about new programs but once I've agreed Norton doesn't cause any further problems.

I'm not sure if it's as simple of one of us broadcasting & one of us receiving. If I was only receiving then I should still have your correct IP. FPSC picks up mine as listed at the bottom of the join game screen.

EDIT: Basically if for some reason my side is picking up your IP address wrong (either sent and/or received wrong) then that would receive the waiting to join message simply because my PC is trying to connect to a server that doesn't exist. It could be the way FPSC handles its network code, it could be yours or my router, chances are it's both .

Rich.

The server is off, the computer restarted, yet it is still listed.

This presents a new idea. Perhaps, TGC IS using a server to HOLD mp data.

You would be trying to connect to an Network adress...

I turned it off after I felt that the connection wasn't going though...

If anyone is non-routered, can you start up a host.

I love single player games, maybe I am tired of multiplayer because I have played Counter Strike, Tribes, Halflife, Plan of attack, Enemy Territory and so many MPs. Are there no MP with a story, were You can work togheter against AI Enemys?

Hello, I know this is old... but I want to add another locked thread under my impressive amount of locked threads :p and test a theory.

I KNOW that FPSC gets the IP internally. That is life, you can not change it.
HOWEVER I also know that fpsc needs the real IP, yet will not get it.
So, to test a theory (which is that this won't work) enter the following as the ip and DO NOT connect to the game in progress.
70.124.116.108

Question, Is it that hard to download a file. Copy the above IP, run the file, then post saying weither or not it connected?

Thanx Higgins. I know that you SHOULD receive data from me.... the obnly thing I am not persuaded on is that I will recieve data from you (meaning that my router will sort it to me)

Well... I am gonna leave the server up if anyone wants to try...

This layout gives me a great Idea for MP. Use jumppads to make an AIR mp game.

I connected but I couldnt join the game.

I have made a MP game before and my friend connected and played; so you can host MP games.

Are you sure you have set up your router so your computer is the host?

I have my router set up to be a router. What I know is that the biggest problem is that the IP address FPSC gets is not real. I also know that the second issue will be having the router direct it to the computer.

All I wanted to do was confirm that manually entering in the IP would not do that. If it would, great... but didn't expect it to.

As you said, you will have to direct your computer as a host. The issue now is explaining that under several different brands of routers.

oh... and can I have an [ic:lock]?
