I made a character in 3d studio and animated it
using the bone system well in 3ds every thing
was fine but after loading it into dbpro it looked
like jet lee using the chicken fighting style (if my memory serves me).

here's a pic and next post there will be a demo...

note: i export using panda Xporter.

And now for the demo...
The file is a compressed rar file that contains:
-the demo
-the hero model (modelsherohero.x)
-the hero max file (modelsheromodel.max)

***the only thing that is right is the legs and
the hat becasue they are linked to the bones
(not using the skin modefier)

<edit>
I forgot to include the demo

Why don't you link everything to the bones? I don't know anything about this but I feel bad you have no replies

Your signature has been erased by a mod because it's larger than 600x120...

Use the reset xform modifier on the meshes, should fix it up. And make sure every single vertex is assigned to a bone as not doing so can sometimes cause an explosion

3DS Max is kind of crap for animating low poly 3d models compatible with dbp, I recommend using characterFX. You should beable to afford it

linking everything wont solve this becasue linking will only
move the whole mesh with the bone (not the vertexes)
and about replies i usually dont expect to get replies fast
and sometimes i sleep after posting. or go somewhere out.

i'll try the reset xform and i'll try the shareware version of characterfx now

naw bud, hes right. The verticies ARE the mesh. If you dont link them to a bone they wont move in DBPRO. Its picky about what type of animation you have.

Version 8 and here is a max
file with version 7 (attachment)... and i use the latest panda xporter.

And about the options i took some screen shots
and merged them together you'll find them in the attachment.

Just making sure, are you using the xform modifier or the reset xform tool?

You need to use the reset xform tool, it's where the polycount tools are. Then convert to editable mesh, correct any problems then assign the bones and make the animation.

Your problem here is that, your model is being exported 90° in its "y" axis regarding the bones set, meaning that if the bones set is facing the camera, the model would be facing right. This also happened to me some time ago, and tried lots of thing to solve it. In the end, i somehow fixed this kind of problems. I use physique modifier instead of skin modifier. I deleted the current skin mod and aplied a physique mod and it work... well, it was facing "ok", but as i did not configure the model and bones, the character didn't animate well, but will surely work if done.

Btw, of course im no expert in 3dsmax, so there might be another way(an easier one?) to solve this problems, but... I'll just say i spent almost 1 year trying to solve this same problem.

I know even less than Zergei about max, less than 6 months of use but I was able to get your animation/model working about 95% correctly ( one of the arms dips down after animation is played )

The first thing I did was to union the legs & hat to the body then did a quick re-skin of the verts ( quick is why the one arm is probably dipping )

here is the x file I ran through DBP...

edit: picture of model in DBP, let me know if this helps.....

Oh sorry for being late to reply but the university
is taking all my time

Chenak
you're right i've been using xform (not reset xform)
so i tried using reset xform then the char becomes bigger
and turns to another direction!.
still trying with it.

Zergei
i'll reanimate it using the phisque mod just when i come back home

Heckno
thanks for taking some time i will try the union method,

Just remember it's a boolean method im using not grouping....

Furthermore, after I reviewed your model for the last time, everything work properly with the exception of some verts being out of place in regards to weights and bones, but that was because I did a quick skin modifier without paying attention to the details..

It worked ... i found a way
the character must face a specific direction cuz
when i export the bones somehow turn into another direction
then i have to fix the pivot in dbp.

i still not satesfied by that but thats the only way

Glad you got it working. Sometimes, when rigging a model, problems like this happen. When so, i redo the physique thing, and soemtimes even bones. If still not working, i try to restore someway the model, as it may be causing this issue...
