Hi at all. Today I want to show you a very very nice game of a german DBPro community member named messiah. It took 7 months to complete the game as messiah told us. If you love 2d games then this is the right one for you. No demo! It's fully playable!

He made a very cool fan game about Sonic and Shadow. The game is complete with tons of graphics, levels, sounds, own music score and much more.

There are even intro's, extros, and lots of stuff telling the story.

You can play as one of 5 characters. 2 from the begining and after you played through the game you can choose from another 3 characters.

Use your keyboard or gamepad to play it. Who said that DBPro can not be used for 2D games? Here's proof that it works great.

The download is a bit tricky but believe me, it's really worth it. It would be nice if somebody could create a mirror for the files.

Download it from here: (~150MB !!!)
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8Z0FINJ7
(If you click that link, a window opens where you have to wait for 45 seconds (on the top right). After that period there's a small window in front of the timer with an X. Click that and below there's the download button. It's a free file hoster so it's a bit difficult.)

Mirror (thanks to Oneka):
http://onekaproductions.com/Misc/Hubdule/Sonic_and_Shadow_0.9b_Setup.exe

There's an updated exe with window support. Maybe somebody get's a problem with the original exe. Simply download here: (~8MB)
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HYM3M9I4
(same procedure as above)

Mirror (thanks to Oneka)
http://onekaproductions.com/Misc/Hubdule/Sonic_and_Shadow.exe

If the program hangs at startup then keep sure you have some divX codec installed. Also you need at least 700MB free space on your harddrive! Have I told you that it's huge!

Here are some pictures I took from the game:

Sometimes you have to refresh the page until it loads correctly. Does anybody know any other free webspace page where we can put the files?

It does look really good, but all of that copyright material could get you in trouble.

I'm sure I've played this before a long time ago but maybe it was a demo of it.

Anyway, it plays really well and I'm impressed that DBPro can chuck all them graphics around so smoothly. It all plays in a lowres screen though so maybe that's the trick. A high-res screen 2D platformer with all them parallax type effects would be a great showcase for DBPro.

Relying on DivX is a bit naff though and exiting the game didn't work too well. It just hung then moaned about an animation not existing.

megaupload worked fine for me, it's just a bit slow, but then again it is free.

DB Classic could run all that no problem. Remember that sonic is only 256 colours.

It will fall on its knees in the path of my Sonic game!
Edit: 150MB? You are joking, right?

Played it now, quite good, although I don't think personally that any movies should have been used. Shadow's first level was very glitchy, and I passed through several walls trying to figure out the blocks bit. I couldn't find any original music either, as most of it was MIDIed Adventure music. A good try, but I cannot for the life of me work out why it is 300MB+

hmm I had problems running it, after it 'loads' before what is supposed to be the first movie it closes itself, which is strange as I did install divX, shame sounds like an awesome game, (Kicks PC) perhaps its something on my end thats doing something as usual

Initially it closed for me because I opened task manager after waiting for ages and I don't think it liked it very much.

It's a decent game, there are a couple of things I don't like about it however. The jumping is strange, and you can never see very far down underneath your character, which can lead to death.

When the game starts the first time, it unpacks the gamedata to a seperate folder. It takes a few sec. to a few min. depending on your computer. Have you tried the updated exe file? It runs the game in window mode. Some users reported problems because of the lowres it uses.

could try it like that, except, I really need to clean up my PC before I go downloading stuff, it keeps giving me this reminder that I'm running low, how they hell I've nearly used up 40 gigs I don't know..

This game contains illegally disributed content. (the credits music is ripped from Sonic Adventure 1 and 2)

Someone could get in trouble with sega. The music is from games still selling reasonably.

err, the WHOLE game contains ripped media, sprites being the most obvious. Its not like they are distributing the game for any profitable cause so i don't think can get into actual trouble with sega.

This game,is just fully a ripoff of the original Sonic games.

Who ever made this, only did work on getting everything to run.

So why is this so "Good"?

The sprites are in my opinion ok, but EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM IS IN .BMP! Plus, the credits graphics are 320x2400! That's 2MB per player!

The reason why I say I like it is because it plays like the real game and mostly is like a real sonic game...its not the fact that he has icons from the game or music...you guys need to stop critizing the media....and if its so bad why dont you make a better game?

I am... it just... uses the Sonic Universe and plays like a Final Fantasy with a good physics engine. (Loops on the world map? You bet!)

Be warned that the uninstall routine is a bit naff and leaves hundreds of megabytes of files where you installed it.

Just to push forward my point about space being wasted:
This is one example. The whole thing is done like this. Is Messiah an extension of Mess? I think so.

What's up?? This is a fan game. And there's more than only the media in it - and gameplay, music, sound etc. are great. If you think it's wasting space you might be right. But you don't need to download it. I think we got your point. You don't like it - OK.

[edit]

How can I remove the download? It's not belonging to this thread.

I think Master Mind and NeX would best shut-up just because they haven't made something of a such a good quality. And yes the vast majority of items in this title are ripped, get the hell over it, it's a free fangame, and a great one at that.
