You got to be kidding me, to think I was going to pay full price But I'm broke, so knowing my luck, when I get money all that will be gone.

Too bad Daz bought out Eovia, I guess they were following what is hip with companies these days

However I like my products boxed, looks like Daz won't allow this with Hexagon 2...

Its not, Daz 3D bought them out, they have the right to sell them at whatever price they choose, as soon as they get the money back they paid from it, they're constantly in profit, what a good investment

Having read on other forums that people have been charged $188 for Hexagon 2.0 in effect just been given a discount heres how to order it properly.

You must become a Platinum Club member first,so choose your subscription option then proceed to the checkout and pay for it,you will know when your membership has gone through, DAZ
will send you an email(s).

Go back and order Hexagon 2.0 at $1.99 and once again go to the checkout to pay for it and all will be well.

The people that had a problem tried to purchase both the subscription and Herxagon 2.0 on the same transaction, its pretty obvious you can't if you think about it.

I would have thought so

Well I'm gonna sell a few games down cash converters (Even if they do rip me off) so I got the money to get this, I was going to wait until I get a job until I got Hexagon, but why not take advantage of their generosity

If I had not bought Hexagon 2.0 using that method or if I'd noticed any catches I would not have posted it.
The only thing I did not like was DAZ does not have nor reccomend using a download manager,so it took me one hour forty five (nail biting) minutes to download but it went without a hitch.

Fair enough. But if you re-read your posts up until that point you'll notice that it is never obvious that you had bought it using that promtion (or even at all)...

Thanks for the info. I really am extremely tempted about Hex 2, but since it's such a new release and said release happened so close to the developers being taken over, I get this funny fear that the product

a) may have been rushed by the takeover;
b) will not receive the same amount of support from DAZ than it seemed to have from Eovia.

Regarding b) no one can know, of course... but I wonder if it may be safer to let a few weeks blow by and see if people can attest to the stability of Hex. Please let us know how you "get along" with it in the next few days, if you'd be so kind. Thanks.

Miguel
I should point out that I only posted the offer information so that others here would not miss out on the opportunity to get a good modeling package for not much more than the price of a program like Milkshape 3d (not that there is anything wrong with MS3D).
As to whether or not anyone should or should not take advantage of this offer is up to the individual,I will also point out that I do not work for either DAZ or Eovia.
In short if you think its good value go for it,if you have any reservations founded or unfounded then do not.

@JimB: Not sure if I said something in my posts that made you get the wrong impression of the intent on my questions... I sense I might have from your replies.

Trust me, I totally understand why you posted this info: you heard of this great deal that may interest a few people here and thought you'd share it. I apreciate that and am very thankful for that. Never I thought that there were any ulterior motives on your part or that you were "selling your warez" or anything (if for nothing else because your avatar is of Silo, which is a competing product LOL).

My questions were really to chat about the product and learn from the "investigation" you obviously already made of the product. Pretty standar forum banter, really, not any sort of flame bait.

So, in a nutshell and so we can start anew, my previous posts boil down to

That offer sounds quite cool! I may just get it too, you know... How do you like it this far?

Exactly,as far as Silo goes it is just a modeling app and IMO the best and easiest to use,Hexagon 2.0 offers other tools like UV unwrapping, texture painting and displacement brushes so as I said in an earlier post compliments Silo.

LOL,I only D/L it late last night and have not yet found much time to play with it,meanwhile DAZ has a forum for it and it might be helpful to you.

Just so you guys know.....
Quote: "*Platinum Club Monthly Membership requires a one time payment of $29.95 and 11 monthly payments of $7.95 thereafter in order to maintain membership privileges. If at any time you cancel your membership, or one of your automatic monthly payments are defaulted upon, you will be required to re-start your membership at a cost of $29.95. "

So.......thats the right one right?
Remember cancel it before your forced to pay a 7.95!!!
Or does that force you to pay a cost of 29.95 again? Or is that the start back up fee?

@Jim

Hey dude, I'm curious on your method of payment of the premium membership, I just ordered it through Visa electron, but it said something about a payment failure, but its on order according to the details on my account (saying open), and is asking for a payment (My Dad suggested thats because its somewhere in the USA and it might not be office hours at the moment, so the transaction won't be complete)
As you're are in the UK, I am curious to what credit/debit card method you used (if any) if its VISA electron, then that means it should be alright, if not, I'll see what happens and if nothing, then get money onto my Dad's mastercard

thanks,

It was Visa.

any fine print on downloading it?

i mostly need to know if there are any restrictions on transfering it to another computer of yours when you finally get it. I plan to come up with(maybe borrow) the approx $35 it would cost to get it all set up, and will have one of two things happen: I will have my brother(who is building my computer, only software left to get now) download it directly to my computer AND burn it to a CD. OR have him just burn it to a CD. I'd download it here at my house, but we're on 56k and 334 MB is a bit big to download, even barring any theoretical connection issues that could surface. I also don't have a burner available at my house yet lol. So basically the question is:

IS IT OK TO HAVE ON MORE THEN ONE OF YOUR OWN COMPUTERS AT THE SAME TIME?

heh...

I've have downloaded off of Daz3D before and you get about 4/8 (can't remember which one, I have eight download attempts on Daz studio but this is the second time I've gotten it) and the downloads go away after a certian amount of time (but come back if you ask it to reset downloads) If you want to burn to CD the product should come with a 'burn to cd' option which is to consider its 56k audience, they burn it to CD for you and deliver it, or at least I imagine thats what the they'd do, however if the product says 'CD burn option not availible' the its obvious what it cannot do Personally I think its okay to have them on more than one PC's with it on, as you can get a CD copy it shouldn't matter

@Insanity Complex
Your brother can download it for you, just make sure its purchased under your name and email address for serial number purposes (they send transaction deatails and serial number) that way it'll be registered to you.
Everything should be ok as long as your brother does'nt install it on his computer using your serial number.

BTW you have 4 download attempts.

Hmm...could get a bit more complicated. You see, I don't have any real way to pay it myself, I'd be doing it through my Dad, or my other brother. The actually downloading however, will be directly to my computer by my brother. I dunno, it'll work out if I get the money for it. It always does. heh

Just get your dad or brother to buy you a gift voucher for the $32 from DAZ then use that.

(I'm assuming that they will take vouchers for membership
To be on the safe side you could email DAZ and ask)

If so you'd better have your dad get you two vouchers one for $29.95 and one for $1.99 because you have to be a Platinum Club member before you can get Hex2 for $1.99,join first then go back and buy Hex2.

I hear DAZ have got the Eovia team working on a 2.1 patch hopefuly that will sort out the bugs on both versions (without introducing more).

made by the same guys, but we all know Amapi wasn't exactly that good, as you can see when Daz3D bought out Eovia, Amapi was dropped from the website and only sell their flagship Carrara and Hexagon

hexagon looks very similar to amapi in many of its tools, it wouldnt surprise me if a lot of the functions were carried across, watching the tutes reeks of amapi.
I have used that program for a long time and its very good for fast mesh deving. taking it to another program for uving and animation was required for the DBP end result.

As far as I know hexagon is build on Amapi, plus DAZ bought
Eovia USA which owns Hexagon and Carrara, Eovia Europe owns Amapi.

BTW you get download Amapi 6.1 for free from Eovia website, in the
download section.

So one would still be required to use a renderer on top of Hexagon, right? Can Hexagon export to .X to be used in DBP natively? I don't own any renderers.

Hexagon 2 has a preview ambient occulsion renderer which looks cool, I don't think it can export to .x but it can export to .obj which is extremely universal, if you say you cannot find anything free that will convert .obj to .x I'd have hit you
