A few months ago, i was told about a competition that involved me making either a newspaper article, a radio broadcast or a TV report on a politcal issue of my choice. I love filming and so i thought it would be nice to enter a TV report...

Eventually (with 2 weeks until the submission date), i started on my piece on the Energy Crisis in Britain (where i is from). I couldn't get hold of real interviewees so i used my Dad and my head teacher to be energy experts. Anyway, i final finished the entry and struggling to get my DVD burner to work, i sent it off the day before the closing date. Then nothing....

Suddenly, i got a phone call from the competition organiser saying that they had lost some of my details and they needed them becuase my entry had got into the top 6 in the country! I sent off an E-mail with my details and they said they'd keep me informed. Then nothing....

Today, i recieved a letter that said:
Quote: "I am writing, as promised, to inform you that the judging for the National Political Journalism Competition has finally been completed. reaching the national final is a huge achievement, as over 500 teams of young people took part in the competion this year; you should be very proud. As i said before, the standard this year was extremely high and the judges were impressed by the quality of all the entires, especailly at the short-listing level"

My entry was in the short list with 5 others
Quote: "Although the judges felt your lack of "real" interviews was a problem (as yu suspected), and you therefore weren't chosen as one of the winners, they were so impressed by the standard of your entry overall, that it was decided that you would be offered a special award for "Production"."

They're sending it shortly along with more detailed written feedback from the judges (most of whom are or were politcal editors of either a newspaper or a news programme).

So, there you have it; i got me an award.

My entry will hopefully be posted up on the organisaters website for all you to watch if you're interested. I will give you the link when i see it.

Nice work, but as nest egg said I don't think it's the right place...

!!! unless you are going to use the story to make a FPS involving a journalist who accidentally discovers the the earth is about to be attacked by aliens and that he is the only person who can save the planet.

and you have a life outside of both of them?

Great job, nice to see some of these members going to higher and better things... Wish that that was the same for me... I feel myself often pulled down by my own burdens, my internal conflicts that tear at my very being, degrating or promoting what I am doing in such a manner that I lose track of what I am doing.

Looks at sig... laughs... laughs some more... FINALLY, after 200 weapons... a crosshair pack.

Come on,Higgins...give AE a big hug!...
Seriously,we all need to be supportive of each other regardless of what we think about each other.
The only way we are going to make these forums a better place is to support each other.
Look at it this way...if we were all the same this world would be a boring place.
If everybody posted every time they got an award we can celebrate their accomplishments together.
Besides,it makes my day brighter to hear something good happened to somebody.
If you won an award, got a cool job,had your game published, etc. I would want you to post it.

I was just trying to help.

I don't know why I even try.It appears that no one cares so I guess I am just wasting my time. But it is my time to waste.Fair is fair.
As a habitual rule breaker you can't fall back on the rules.
I did post most of that in Geek Culture just like you suggested.
I know nobody cares about my opinion or anything I say. Thanks for letting me know that.
BTW AE sorry for hijacking your thread.

I was thinking about not posting this thread but i saw the forum one day and thought:
"Wow, for a community, this place is divided..."

So i posted it to UNITE the forum. I thought if we had a nice friendly thread, we might be able to HAVE A REST FROM FLAMING. This place can really get you down sometimes so i thought i'd appeal to the good nature of the users here.

Quote: " He has come off as a show off to me"

Perhaps. But wouldn't you want to show off if you had won an award especaily created for your entry? This competition was national, to come 2nd is big achievement.

Thanks for all....most of your support,
AE
