For a little while my friend and I have been throwing together the idea of changing our ww2 game to a ww1 game for the sake of making somewhat of a different game. considering there are so mant ww2 games. Its very primitive so far and has no enemys or AI yet. But that will be ported over from my ww2 game engine within the week.heres a screen.

That looks like the terrain copied from the water shader demo with a model... arm??? added. The backdrop is the one included in it, as well.

I don't doubt you're going to have a good game, it's just a bit early for a WIP, considering you're pretty much using someone else's media and code at this point. (I'm not talking about the arm, I'm sure you made that yourself).

What style of game will it be? The main thing that identifies WWI is long periods of entrenched warfare. France was devestated because so much of the war was fought there for so long, but it wasn't glamorous First Person Shooter combat. It was dirty, cold, wet, diseased fighting without end. If you made a FPS WWI game, it wouldn't take advantage of WWI's uniqueness. Rather, it would be a generic FPS game with some WWI media.

AND BAYONETS! STABY STABY!

Why does everyone always overlook bayonets? Lunge, staby, twist, pull. That's my motto!

When you're told to affix bayonets, you can reasonably kiss your ass goodbye. Once you've stabbed someone, they can be difficult to remove, if you've gone more than half way. Definitely not my weapon of choice.

sure you would...

The game looks uncomplete and not ready for a WIP. You using the stuff provided as a backbone wich is good but add some flare so i can remember i even looked at this thread.

You twist the bayonet with the thread of the attachment to stop it coming off in the body when removed. I reckon they'd be pretty easy to remove with a foot against the body for assistance, especially if somewhere nice and squishy is stabbed such as the abdomen or throat.

And now I've sickened everyone with horrific depictions of bayonet action, I will go and do some flower arranging.

a bayonette is not hard to get out of a human body. It is actually easier when its attatched to the rifle. The only way It would be hard is if you got it stuck in some ribs or something. Humans are soft!

depending on if your stabbing with a sharpened knife or a raisin.

A WWI game would be excellent. I personally think thre are too many war games out there right now... why keep coming back to the same conflict?

He was talking about a bayonett, i think that qualifies as a sharp knife only mounted on the end of a rifle
