Hi all

sorry about this but how do you reduce the brightness of lights.

I'm too thick to work this out for myself ^_^

Thanks

The have a section in the manual on lighting and light markers.Trying to explain that to you would not do you justice. The manual should tell you what you need to know.

In the editor, right-click on the light entitiy; this will bring up the script menu on the left of the screen. You should see "Light" (in bold); change the "Light Range" from 500 to something less than 500. Hope this helps.

I didn't mean to sound mean or anything.I just think the manual covers this well. That, and I didn't know if he was talking about ambience or a light entity or when you play the game, etc.

If you want the light marker you are placing to cover more area, press the > key. If you want to light marker you are placing to cover less area, press the < key. You will see the red circle indicating how far the light will cover. If you want something inbetween two of the < and > light settings, then place the light and right-click on it. You will see a setting called Light Range. Set it to whatever you want. If you want the light in places where lights are NOT placed to be darker or lighter, click File-->Build Game and a new box should pop up.

Click the Level Settings tab and then click Edit to the right of the Global Script. Find the section labelled in bold as Level Setup and find the Setting in there called Light Ambience. Set it to a lower number if you want the places where lights are NOT placed to be darker and set it to a higher number if you want the places where lights are NOT placed to be lighter.

Hope this helps,

Tom

I thought it was [ and ] to increase/decrease light marker range?
And that < and > are used to modify the ambient light in test game?
In fact I'm sure of it but my computer isn't working, so I'm on a laptop.

K Jah is absolutely right.

The > and < keys only alter ambience temporarily during test game, while [ and ] alter the range of light.

But, of course, the really only reduces the coverage. To decrease the brightness, I personally would go into the light's properties and change the color to something closer to black.

Of course, that's just what I would do.

Actually it's ambience level, red, green, blue.I have gotten some good results with static lighting.I use soft lightmapping because no lightmapping relies too much on dynamic lighting and my pc laughed at me when I tried full lightmapping.
