I am working on a medevil viallage/city. I will try to post updates here as soon as I can.

Well here it is the first building. Tell me what you think of it, what can be improved. Its my first building in 3D WS. So tell me whats wrong with it. (If its perfect you can always say..."AWESOME"...or somthing...)
For people into history is a half-timbered house model. The wood would be oak and the stucko type stuff is called wattle-and-dung. Sometimes it has pig fat and fur in it. (Yes, I research my models before I make them..... )

Now before you start saying... "WHY IS THERE ANOTHER THREAD ON THIS MEDEVIL STUFF??".....(read below)
After getting bannd* for asking if I could post pictures in another place. I have decided to post them here.
*Number one rule in the fourms is never say the word hijack in a question because there are multipule meanings . (Just some advice from my past expericence ...no hard feelings)

The wood doesn't look like it's touching the walls because the shadows are so huge. The wood is say 2 inches thick, but that make the shadows about 14 inches wide.

Looks nice. If you plan to make it a game model, then you might want to make all the timbers as part of the texture.

Might find something here useful to reference.

The way you made room for the doorway by "smooshing" part of the other side doesn't look right, you've taken away from the symmetry.

Smooshing? Thats odd...I made the basic walls of the building and then cut the door out. Then put the "oak frame" on it. As for makeing the timber part of the model for in the game. I made this side have the wood sticking out because this side will be seen the most. The other sides have edited wood like this but only 2D. Ive succed so far in making all the textures myself. As for speed im going to use the billboarding tecnique seen in Oblivion.
Nice website by the way! Very helpful!

Edit: I see what you mean of the sides not being symetrical. I did that on purpose because some of the pictures I saw did not have them symetrical.

The wood still isn't touching the walls. there are white lines in the shadows which means that light is getting through the wood. This means that there are GAPS.

Oh yeah, and I just noticed that this shadow is impossible to happen, the roof should join up with it.
