I know it took a little bit of back and forth, but in the end, I suppose it justifies the means...anyways I have some questions that I think are relevant:

Can BSPs be used to make worlds? mountians trees castles spaceports???
(Think like: Can I make the world of Ultima 9 or u9 quality out of bsps)

If I send my textures packed up to a bsp editor like quark or whatever, I still use a game as it's base test, yes? What happens to THAT game's textures if I use my own?

Thats bout it for now, but I'm gonna look into gmax and the tempest pack. I'll let ya know if your interested bout my progress. It's a little confusing since I'm used to writing my own levels from scratch or using something like the TME editor.

i respond cause its hard not to when you have someone acting quite blantently annoying ... i have to atleast put this annoying questions out of my misery
if your used to writing your own formats... then do so now - no one is forcing you to use BSP.

that aside i'd hardly call TME a world format - its more like an active scripter for worlds.

if you want to use BSP the source code for all version upto 53 (Quake3) are available form id software...
you can use textures you create yourself, however the ONLY editor which you can build a world on without requireing the games is Qoole '99 (which is a bloody task in itself to find on the net in working order)

Worldcraft 3.x can as well, however Worldcraft 3.x isn't exactly the best tool for jobs like developing complex worlds... but that said niether is BSP.
if you are as much of a programmer as you think you are, look up on the net about BSP not the editors - as perhaps you'll learn if it would be worth using, and if not maybe the format could give you idea to code your own with an editor to suit your needs!

ok. Then I'll just exclude ideas of using world commands cept for terrain, sounds better than matrix, and I'll write my own worlds...point taken...TME is what you say it isa, however I've pulled off some great things with.

Go to fileplanet and search for Reign of the Mage Knights. My first uploaded demo. It used tme for its world construct. it's kinda slow on low end machines tho.

Don't take offense, man, I have programmed for a while, but just never used bsps even in my long ago days of mad quake playing, I never made my own levels, I had my head stuck in Turbo Pascal and Qbasic writing ray casting engines and wanna be wolfenstien games.
