Hey gang,

Is it possible to show a video BEFORE the first level of a game starts? Probably an easy question, but I had to ask. Can't find anything on the forums, been doing 'failed' experiments of all kinds, but nothing comes close.

Search this forum for Game Cover 1.0.It is an excellent application that lets you play a movie before the game starts.

Ehhh, sorry, let me clarify the question. "Is it possible to show a video BEFORE the first level and after the main menuof a game? Also, the program is very useful, and I plan on using it. But, does anyone know if it supports avi and not mpeg? And wav and not mp3??? Thank you all.

TheDude,

It is entirely possible, through scripting, to direct FPSC to play an .avi after the main menu, and before level one (I'm assuming you mean while it's loading?)--

--Actually, re-reading your post, I believe that you either want it to play while loading, or before loading. In that case, scripting of the Loading screen, or Title Screen, is necessary. Of course, while I'm beginning to get the hang of scripting, I've heard that the video command is a concerning area, so I don't plan of giving it a shot.

Of course, if you mean after loading, then, well, it's obvious. Place a Story Zone marker in the same place that the Player Start marker is .

I thought I might add that I lived in Chicago for a while too, before I moved to Michigan.

Agh, Im making this hard than it has to be. Basically, i want an INTRO-movie to the game. Something to spark the story line, rather than just throwing a player into the level not telling how the player got there or anything. Placing the storyzone marker on the player start.....You know how you start a level and it has that fade in effect ( looks like your eye lids are opening ), does placing a storyzone marker on the player start have that effect? Or does it automatically play the movie first? Pardon my english, not the best at explaining things. I would experiment some more with this, but I just turned my computer offf that hass fpscreator on ittt, and Ium about to call it a day. Been up for 36 hours, need sleeepy time.

I agree with AE about Princess. frEsno?? What the hell? First you say you live in a town of dead people, then a hospital's basement, now frEsno? Whatever next.

A town of dead people and a hospital basement...hmmm...sounds like Fresno to me. .In all seriousness,Lizz,you might want to change your forum name.It's your choice but I think your aggravation level is going to go through the roof.
BTW I live in a little town called Fairland about 20 miles south of Indianapolis.

You lot all live america...i'm British!

@TheDude:
yes, making an intro movie play is easy:
1) Decided where you want your level to start
2) Place a storyzone there and set it up to play the movie of your choice.
3) Place a player start marker "in" the story zone box

It will work now, unless the video is not .avi

@Sexy chick
I have to admit, you don't seem very friendly. And i wouldn't call you sexy...i've never seem what you look like. As past experience goes, none of the sexy women in the world make (or even play) computer games so i have my doubts.
