Anyone know of a VIM (a clone of the Unix vi editor - see www.vim.org) script to teach it the DBPro language syntax?

Can I run the DBPro compiler from the command line? How?

Just use EMACS instead, it comes with a built in copy of DarkBASIC Pro.

Seriously though, the compiler certainly can be run from the command line.

Look in the editor directory in the dbpro installation dir. There are some files with presumably all the keywords in that you could perhaps use to help vim understand the syntax.

Can anyone please tell me how to run the DBPro compiler from the command-line, so that I might have any hope of using a different editor with DBPro?

Is there any way to embed/select a different editor to be used by the IDE?

I have played with it a bit and getting an editor to compile the program is easy.

Open the .dbpro file and change final source= to your source file.
If you have include files just tack them onto the endo of the main source file
then just run
"path to compler/DBPCompiler.exe test.dbpro"

The exe appears to be put in the current directory.

I don't know how the debugger works.

I would recommend installing cygwin as the windows command prompt is rubbish for this sort of stuff.

You can indeed do that. You won't get any return errors though (error X on line numer Y, etc etc).

VIM is nasty, Boxer all the way for me.

I think the editor just catches the errors from the compiler. If you compile from the command line with an error in the code with the editor running the editor pops up its own message box insted of the compiler and colours the line of the error red just like when you get an error compiling from within the editor. The only difference I can see is the caption text is different.

All the error codes are in a directory in the compiler directory so I assume the compiler is resposible for handleing all those errors.

If anybody can be bothered to figure out how to work the de-bugger it wouldn't be too difficult to write a simple editor.
