how do people make really cool looking water than actually looks like real water?

step 1 is to refrain from filling boards with 5 topics.

edit - ok 3 but ts still as bad , to make water either use some sort of water texture or if your 3d modelling app supports raytracing and such, then im sure you can setup some water type material using a nose/fractal based bump map on the surface of the water and get some reflection/refraction etc etc.

Do you mean make realistic water in a DB game or make realistic water in a rendered image?

use a shader, in dbp you can use evolved`s water shader that uses a 2nd camera to simulat reflection and offsets it using an image on the watr plain and it looks pretty cool.

Musashi What is the shader you use for water called? and where can i find it? I found an Shader called Pocean ( same shader? ) or something on Ultimate Shader Thread 2.0 but it wasnt any media with it so i didnt know how it worked

there are some scripts for making moving water that come with scapemaker, i would suggest that you download that and get the scripts.

also it is a handy program for making elabrit nature backrounds.

Try looking at EVOLVED's posts, he makes the download post first, then shows a screenshot, if you see the screenshot, scroll up a slight bit for the download, I'll find you the direct link (I think its about page 4)
