I noticed that Rich, in his tutorial suggestions thread mentioned this tutorial on 3D space and movement, but there is no lnk to it from the tutorials page - any chance of the link being put up? I would find it really useful.

Cheers.

Well, if it aint ready then why's it called "7" when they're numbered all the way up to 11? Is it because the code doesn't work, or just because the link isn't there? If it isn't ready then fari enough, but I for one could really do with a helping hand.

It's started but not complete. If it makes you feel any better, all us DBDN'ers are waiting for it too!

So you're all having the same free-flight rotation problems as me then? I'm having trouble getting my objects to rotate correctly about their axes, and then when I try to move them - well that's a whole different kettle of fish...
...was hoping the tutorial would be able to shine some light on the problem.

Have you got patch 4 on your computer? Patch 3.1 had free flight problems but they're all fixed for me now...

jrowe,

er, they aren't actually.

Camera free flight just does the wrong thing and object free flight works as long as u don't need to use object angle z(), which always returns zero.

Sorry to be the rain on your picnic!

So will the tutorial explain how to get it working? Or is it actually wrong? If it can be made to work (rotate on all local objects axes correctly, and move in any direction) then I'd really like to know how - hence my desire for the tutorial! So DOES it work, or doesn't it....?

wargamer :- how do you mean exactly:- 'Camera free flight just does the wrong thing' .. ?? (free flight is vital to me ever getting db pro.)

I briefly tried the first demo version of pro and the camera free flight rotations were correct then. Have they changed?

Dunno about camera free flight - i havent' had chance to play with that yet! - but object free flight doesn't (seem?) to work. Whenever the object is turned on its z axis things start to go wierd - it starts turning aroud the global x and y axes instead of its own. If you avoid rotating on the z axis, but you then decide to move on it, the same thing happens. In fact, it seems to happen _whenever_ you move along any axis (I may be wrong). What I can't work out is whether this is correct behaviour or not?

Nightman:

I did manage to get it working. Somebody (sorry can't remember who) in another topic gave me some code that worked a treat, illustrating free-flight and the other one (Euler is it?). Anyway, I got it working in patch 4 ONLY is I uninstalled DBPro, then reinstalled, then went straight to patch 4. Previously I had just gone from 3.1 (or 3 whatever) to 4 and it didn't work. I haven't upgraded to 4.1 yet as I do not have a problem with patch 4.
