Hexagon which i bought for $1.99 Brilliant, is now causing more tahn a few headaches. It is very buggy.
That a side it is a very fast model maker, tough my main issue is that I find it virtually impossible to UV map. It will only create maps on their models. What am I doing wrong? any help would be appreciated. Also I can't paint or texture, the model remains the same even though I see the brush. Is my graphics card just not up to it? I have downloaded all the latest drivers. I am using the PC version.
Anyone else in the same boat?
Thanks in anticipation

Make sure you select a UV mapping method i.e Box,Planar, cylindrical etc before you unwrap your model using "Unfold".You will find these under the "UV & Paint" tab at the top.

Thanks JimB

Tried your suggestion on just a simple cube, chosing cubic and planar mapping then Unwrap and all I get is an internal error.

Thanks away

This is straight from thier brochure.

Pentium or compatible 800Mhz or better
Windows XP / 2000
256 MB Physical ram
24-bit colour display
3D OpenGL Graphic board

My specs:-
Athlon 2400+ (2Ghz)
Windows XP PRO (SP1,SP2 Fully updated)
1Gig DDR ram
nVidia FX5200 128Mb nVidia 84.21 driver

There is a Hex 2.01 update available in the DAZ support downloads,
I have downloaded it but not installed it (if it aint broke don't fix it),for me it works fine I am sorry it is'nt for you.
It might pay you to email DAZ about the problem and see what they have to say about it.

Make sure symmetry is disabled before mapping your objects.

Hi Guys

An update. I disabled the desktop picture in XP and was able to paint. Hexagon uses alot of memory. I have now upgraded my ram, however once I have mappped and painted the thing moves like a slug.
Should have read the above prodived by JimB

Especailly the 800Mhz mine is
Athlon 2000 1.67GHz with 768 Ram
**** I need a new machine
I think deep paint is better probably for painting and texture work, tried the demo it rocks, still can't afford it right now.
Thanks for input everyone

OSX version wont make a folder, you have to create & assign a folder to install.
I had to drop into root as well so all my users on this machine could access it.

Check that you have "Ambient Occlusion" turned off that is a major drain on the system.Theres a guy on the DAZ forum with a dual 2Ghz machine that was running a bit slow he discovered he had AO turned on.
Look for the buttons bottom right of the gui.

maybe its a case of the developer forgetting to make that folder.
every other install either does this or asks you to drag the app to your hard drive from the virtual drive.

Yup nowadays on the new macs all you need to do is select windows and restart, and presto, your running windows. I've heard its faster than on actual window's computers as well :p

Is there a demo of hexagon for mac? I thought I looked for one and didn't see it, im curious to see what the deal is about it.

So, after all that has been said about Hex 2.0 stability, I was wondering how bad people here have been finding it on the PC? I tried 1.21 and it seemed ok on my boxes: is 2.0 really that worse?

I am still planning on getting it, but I just want to make sure that I don't just buy a brick...

I have vague plans for World Domination
