Making a website:

Hey Everyone, I know there are some new people that want to know how to make their own personal website for their games. Well I'm here to help. Lets Begin .

You can register for any one of those free web makers and then start off your website. Some of these hosters are very hard to use and If you are a beginner then I would stick to the easy ones.
Even though this host is really bad It will give you a really good idea of your personal website.http://www.freewebs.com

After you've got some experience then you can start using a better host here. http://www.free-webhosts.com/webhosting-01.php

HTML

Now If you want to have a really good website then I would recomend making a HTML site. You need to know a coding skill called HTML. I'm sure nearly everyone has heard of it before. If you dont want to make a HTML website but dont want to learn the coding skill then there is a way. It isnt as good but it's still option.
You can try Microsoft Front page. What you do is juts normally type and copy and paste pictures and then when your happy with what youve done you press the preview button and it converts it into HTML. Once you have the HTML codiing of the page that you just made on front page I bet your wondering what to do with it. Well then what you have to do is go to http://www.freewebs.com I know I said It is awful but if you use it in HTML it can prove to be VERY useful. When you are signing up for a free account instead of saying that you want a easy to bild website select the HTML design.
Then you log in and choose your page manager. Clear all the other stuff thats on there and then enter the HTML code that you got from front page. Once you have finished that you will see that your page is in your browser.
Getting on with HTML coding.
The option for doing HTML in front page isnt as good as doing one in the proper tool. But for this you will need to know HTML coding.
Now that you know HTML you can get the tool that you will need to make the site. This is for people who don't know how to use html http://computer.howstuffworks.com/web-page.htm
The best tool that you can get to make a HTML website is Mocromedia Dreamweaver mx. This tool is not free but it does come with a 24day trial. You can get Dreamweaver Here http://www.adobe.com/products/dreamweaver/

Domain names

Now then some of this bit isnt free but it is your choice if you want to get a domain.
When you join a free website hoster then you'll get something like www.freewebs.com/your website. Or www.yourwebsite.piczo.com. Now then this means that your website doesnt reach that much interest. You can get ones like .com .co.uk .org .net .info and many more. But these arent free. I have found that the best website for buying cheap domains is http://www.godaddy.com If you want to make your address shorter but dont want to have to pay anything then look below at sub-domains.

Sub-domains

If you want to keep the content on your website but want a different url (website address) then try a sub-domain.
NOTE:These are not .com .co.uk .org or whatever. (paid domains)

These will make your url (website address) shorter. Listed below are a list of the sites that can make your website address shorter FOR FREE!

Web Builders
You can also use some type of web builders. The best web builder I recommend is http://www.ewisoft.com. You can make website in 5 minutes or less. Check them out. Ewisoft Web Builder can publish your website by "FTP". You can buy for $29.98 or download the trial.

FTP
FTP means File Transfer Protocol. FTP os used to trasfer data from one to computer to another/internet.

-How do I use FTP?
You can use any FTP client to upload files to your account. You can get free FTP software, like SmartFTP, at http://www.download.com.
After installing your FTP client software, use "the ftphost your web host provided" for the Host Name in your FTP software, and use the username/password they provideyou with . Then you'll be able to upload and download files much faster, and more reliably.





This an FTP access I made with ewisoft website builder.

Disadvantages of Free Web Hosts

* Limited web page space
* Unstable servers with alot of down time
* Can't add interactive features (chat rooms, message boards, games, online ordering etc.)
* Search engines often ignore them A HUGE disadvantage!
* Your visitors may doubt your credibility
* May have banners and/or pop ads on your homepage and/or all of your pages
* Long and hard-to-remember web address (instead of yourdomain.com)
* No guarantees of site availability and longevity
* No branded emails addresses (you@yourdomain.com)
* Poor help and support options (if any)
* May not be free forever

Advantages of Commercial Web Hosts

* Easy to remember website address (yourdomain.com)
* No banners or popups
* Easier to get listed in search engines (Google, Yahoo etc.)
* You have more control over the look and feel of your website.
* Multiple branded email addresses (you@yourdomain.com)
* Plenty of web page space for site expansion
* No worries of site being removed unexpectedly
* Looks more professional
* More flexibility for design and functionality
* Help is readily available

it may be useful,but it requires some personal information-otherwise it shouldn't be a problem.
but i don't know what to write for FTP hostname of your web hosting server

if u join and it works for u please tell me wat to write for ftp hostname.
