Ive been playing Battlefield 2 recently and I decided I'd model one of the jets from the Mec team, I wasnt going to put a lot of effort into it as I just wanted to see if I could throw it in a minigame of some sort and simulate the felling of flyingthe jets in BF2. Anyways, soon after modelling an "ok" version I decided Id try texturing for once, and so far here's my results;

Its still not complete, only about an hours work so far with photoshop but Ive never really used photoshop before so Im finding it harder than most people probably would.

The main things I've left to do;

- Fix the transfer between the green trim around the cockpit and the plain, it looks sloppy. Same goes for the ID tag on the front of the jet.

- Sharpen the cockpit itself, it looks sprayed on.

- Make the bottom look equally as warn out as thetop.

- Work on the tail end a bit.

Ill post more screenies as the texture progresses, just looking for some comments/critisism to help make the texture even better.

Modelled in Wings > Uv Mapped in 3DS Max > Textured in Paint and Adobe Photoshop.

if you add some more polys under the cockpit glass and then group the glass area you can effectively apply an opacity to this grouping, as the jet flys by you will able to sort of see through the cockpit glass.

instead of just adding polys you might want to add a fake head in the cockpit for a little more realism.

great work so far mate keep it up.

If no-one gives your an answer to a question you have asked, consider:- Is your question clear.- Did you ask nicely.- Are you showing any effort to solve the problem yourself 

Thanks for the comments, I was concidering adding a head and such but you never really will see it other than cinematics which I doubt Ill have if I get this in some sort of mini-game.

I forgot to mention that that isntt he entire model, I have te landing gear/wheels, 6 missiles and 2 larger missiles + two machine guns and GPS locater modelled onto the jet also, as well as the jet engines at the back. Ive just been texturing the main area of the jet first.

Oh and Subrise like I said I unwrapped in 3DS Max's Unwrapper, its so much easier than Lithunwrap. Pretty much just drag and drop the faces you want into what area of the map, select what type of mapping, and you're done. Only took me about 5 minutes to map the jet.

<EDIT>

Just saw your post now Quoth, I modelled it in Wings, didnt use any tutorials I just based it off of a fairly crappy image of one of the jets I got from google.

Made some progress this morning;

Mainly paying attention to getting the transition between the cockpit andthe cockit trims better, as before they werent defined enough. I also revamped the cockpit itself, before ti had a large hole in it but I thought that might not be too realistic if Im going to be flying this thing around in a game . I also added the ribs to the cockpit, made the tail end a bit more warn out as well as the bottom.

Just for reference, this is the image I was basing my model off of;

As you can see there's no real competition once you compare mine to bf2's jet . It might look like my jet isnt as elongated as the jet in that pic but theyre using a different FOV for the camera shot to make it pan out at the back, though I do need to make my jet a bit longer either way.

<EDIT>

Slight update, added in some more green trim on the front like in the ref pic and fixed up a few minor things, other than adding on the other parts of the model I think this section of things is done (unless anyoe has suggestions);

Like I said the model wasnt done for the purpose of having a good looking model, it was originally planned to be a placeholder for a better one to come, but then halff way through I began learning how to texture and I tried my hand at it.
