Okay, I'm sure some of you remember the Final Fantasy scene I started a while back, but my PC completely screwed up and I lost my work. Although I should be revising (I got the rest of the afternoon to do that ) I am attempting to do it again, don't expect quick updates, as my exams start in less than two weeks :S.

But I've started with Vincent Valentine, still following the style I made Sephiroth in with the last attempt to the scene, except as soon as I get Hexagon I'll be adding extra detail and painting textures onto him, which will apply to my other models.

Nice start. I really like the hair.

The only crit I have is that the eyes are too big, especially height-wise. However, I'm looking at a pic from Advent Children, not the game so you may chose to ignore this (in the game, everyone had huge eyes).

IceBound -No, really-We're quite good.

thanks, the hair is always weird in the final fantasy lot

[edit]
Okay, I spent more time on this than I should have, but meh! I'll spend more time revising tomorrow

Update; torso, legs, cloak and his spiky shoes (Imagine being kick in the tender area with those...)

Just need to do his arms, that claw thing and his gun (Never thought I'd ever end up modelling a gun )

My only crit would be that his legs look too long compared to his head and torso. Apart from that it's looking great so far.

Just got myself Advent Children DVD yesterday. Really encouraging to see what can be done if you stick at it long enough.

Thanks, but blame Square for that one, although his legs are a slight bit longer than the ones in the concept art.

Wow, that's looking really good. I kind of agree with soapyfish about the legs though. I'm not sure if you really want to model this (it would increase the number of polys by a lot), but his cloak isn't actually that smooth. It's supposed to be really torn round the edges.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

@Bahamut, thanks, polygon count isn't one of my concerns, its not game orientated, I'm not following the concept of the movie version, but the version in the concept art, who has long legs (Although mine as still possible slightly longer, or not to scale of the concept, but that will be fixed), and cape in tact, although lacking in detail in places, but as soon as I get Hexagon 2, it will be something good to save for testing its displacement painting tools.

This is the image I am using;

@Insanity Complex, thanks

Looking at the pic, I'd say once you've got the arms in the length of the legs will be nicely balanced out. But yeh, thems long legs.

Looking good. However arnt his boots more goldish than brown? Also in Advent Children his cloak is really torn up at the end. If your going to make him with a weapon can you make it the outsider? I think it looked the coolest

Thanks

I'm not focusing on materials yet, I gave the specular a nice gold, but didn't seem to come out above the brownish colour, however the concept art it is browner.

This is not the advent children version, its the version based on the concept image drawn for the game, and I'll say it again, his cloak is in tact for that

Looking at the pic you based your model on, then the legs are prefect.

Thanks dude, I'll have to re-do sephiroth as I did lose him in the major problem I had with my PC previously, and I will change's Aeris's face as it doesn't follow the same style as vincent's or sephiroth's, thats if I have lost her during a clean up

I know you said updates will be slow (I know, I'm "revising" too ), but I'm a sucker for FF characters. So, any updates?

Well I got Hexagon 2 today, so I might do some work on his face and jacket soon, but this evening I'm just testing out its tools
