So my DBDN subscription has run out but I don't care I've experienced nothing but pain using DBPro. I thought I'd share my experiences with you all

I originally bought DarkBasic as I thought it was the best of the bunch. Turns out DBPro was just round the corner so I waited eagerly for that. I signed up for DBDN, I downloaded the betas. I bought a copy of DarkMatter to use for models and then finally ordered DBPro. I tried out, what I thought were, basic features that were promised such as BSP support

My DBDN subscription was extended so we could wait to see all the cool new features that were going to be added. I never saw any and I'm glad it's expired apart from helping DBS debug their patches I never really got anything out of it. When I first started the main feature was the ability to download betas of DBPro. It was buggy then, it was buggy when it was released and it's still buggy, patch 4 or no patch 4. I don't want to pay for this feature

Overall I'd say I've spent over £200 on DBS products and haven't been able to get to a stage where I can even produce a protoype of my game. The BSP support is atrotious (as is my spelling) and yes I know they claim it's going to be fixed but after 200 quid and over a years worth of effort wasted I give up

I don't blame Mike or the others but it just doesn't work, I don't have the precious hours to waste trying something out that is fundamentally broken

I was going to wait for patch 5 but I'm outta here

Wow, that's a big boom message. I mustadmit, he is right at some point. It is still buggy and some functions i want to use aren't working yet. But then again, I don't have a DBDN membership, so it is al lot cheaper for me. And I must say DBPro can produce things I can't do with C++ (yet). It is far more easy than any other product Ive used so far. I still think it is a very nice product (Only those pesky little bugs... )

LOL, how about MOST of the option in DBPro weren't working. And now, the whole damn thing just goes sluggish on my computer. It's worthless to me now, thanks for the 100 dollars of pure crap and it's "patches". I have no choice but to wait for patch 5, 6, 7, 8 9, 10+ because that's probably how long it'll take them to fix everything. I'll admit, it makes the creation of a simple 3d world very easy, but beyond that ... nothing but problems (especially for people without ATI or NVidia cards) Do you expect us to be developing games for systems with just those? ::Sigh:: ... not very professional, as the name implies.

P.S. This is what the alphabet would look like if Q and R were eliminated.

At the moment DBPro seems a big let down. I am getting fustrated because that demo I was wanted to be completed, and is almost completed, is not happening. This is beacause I need more speed and power from DBPro.
The demo I am making would just be a simple fps such as Q2 but right now I cant do it and I have far more powerful specs than required by Q2.

Im happy with my purchase... Even though i have spent countless hours being frustrated by various bugs (mine + DBpro). In the end there was always the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. I dont know how long i have spent coding in DBpro but i bet it is vastly greater than on any game i have ever bought. IMHO it was worth every penny.

"helping DBS debug their patches"

DBS debugged their patches? !! GASP!

Seriously though, this doesn't come as a surprise, and DBS were lucky to have his custom for so long.

If something is going wrong we can sort it but we need help from you. If you could send detailed descriptions of what is going wrong and provide example code and media that would be really helpful. Then we can look at the problem and find a solution to it.
