mmmm good point its wierd tho that modding a engine like half life 2 is permitted

but using modded material with the correct copyrights isnt in fpsc

yet the half life 2 zombie pops up in tons of games on this forum

even on screenies on the fpsc screenshot competition

aaaah well download taken down

yeh, but i suppose that they can maintain their boundaries just to their community, so they know there media doesnt get spread, and that it always comes back to Valve

yeh, its not that unique anymore, the HL2 zombie, hopefully when im done with my pack, there will be an assortment of unique ones so people can get over using that zombie

ever since my custom multiplayer recieved complaints

i have kinda of lost my enthusiasm for fpscreator

and see it as just a toy

and i need something that is going to create a following a fanbase as it were

it is still a great product but

the problems i have with the engine are

1:-only 1 level in multiplayer

everybody knows that the life of a game is dependent on the quality of its multiplayer elements

2:-only 8 players allowed in multiplayer

to me this is a big problem

3:- a lack of physics in multiplayer

if you have ever used the physics cannon in half life 2 deathmatch you can see my point

4:-and the big pull of all top games is vehicles

as of yet in fpscreator there is no way that could happen

i think the singleplayer in fpscreator is near flawless just with some minor headaches

however the multiplayer has big problems in my eyes and at the moment that is the direction i want to go

i guess the only option is to code my own so i can get the features i want

mmmmm now theres an idea

also these forums seem to be full of people just using fpscreator as an excuse to sell model packs to everyone

yes i admit i too fell for this demon

but it just seems that fpscreator requires a large amount of media

just to get a decent level

as opposed to bsp levels

i still fpscreator has a life but

i now believe that it maybe time to have a go at coding my own engine

to get the features i want

however seen as this is a fpscreator forum ill leave this on topic

and blooddeath if you want the m249 drop me a email address and ill yousendit.com to you

but other than that its time to get serious and move to the next level of indie game development

peace out

i respect your points, none the less, fpscreator isnt a serious development tool, more directed towards a younger market, getting them into the habit of games development, they have tried to squeeze the power of DBPro into FPSC, but there is only so much people can do, these things take dedicated time and people, and vast amounts of money.

i havnt come to this community to sell model packs, i actually got bored of programming 2d/amateur 3d games and decided to go into FPSC where i could put my graphics, something which i couldnt do before in my previous engine.

Though making model packs for me is fun, do i do it for the money? partly yes, mostly no. You may have noticed Bond1 hyrumark post a link to an artists website, showing his game art and experiences. that is what i am trying to do...get my graphics known, i eventually want to go into the professional games development industry, and making models and showing them on the internet is getting me only closer towards that goal, it helps me gain money on the way to produce more and pay for other things.

this is just another stage, who knows, i may abandon the FPSC forums and head up to Torque development, and get my graphics out around there...

i respect your opinions jon

however i too have tried selling my original artwork on turbosquid

link below

http://www.turbosquid.com/Search/Index.cfm?FuseAction=ProcessSearch&intStartRow=1&istSearchKey=crow34&intMediaType=-1&Submit.x=0&Submit.y=0

however after six months and not even being able to get my w8 form processed and making 0 sales

it seems that graphics isnt my skill or either my modelling skills are really terrible

but as i am determined to do this it a bit down hearted not to make any sales what so ever

so i see that the only way i can make this a success is go for coding my own engine

fpscreator is a great product but as you said its not a serious development tool

hell am 33 i got to do something

anyway good luck with your pack jon

its not your models crow, its the people...

weapons dont sell on turbosquid very well, hell, ive never made a sale on any one of my weapons,

find the demand, then meet it. I found out that cities and architecture sell extremelly well.

from my city i made, it has gained $300

and that is a bad city, i too have yet to get my W8 processed, as i live in england it is quite hard...

program an engine if you like, i prefer to make the most out of things, e.g. if someone says this tool cant do 3d, i will make a 3d game, as with FPSC, i will stick by and try my best with it

good luck with your engine, any thoughts on what language and/or SDK you will be using? im currently in a C++ project making graphics, the engine is coming along nicely, but its so much easier to just use FPSC

i am still gonna use fpscreator for fun

maybe ill do a standard version of my custom multiplayer

and a enhanced version of my custom multiplayer

but i think the best way to do a engine is in

c++ using the direct x sdk i do have experience in c++ but i have never thought about tackling a game engine before

so i think it might be time to take that great leap in to the unknown and see what comes out of this

however i will still proberly release models on this forum for fpsc

but fpscreators has too many multiplayer limitation for me to be comfortable using it in a commercial project

by the way jon i have seen your engine it seems extremely impressive

if i am to do this it would be a d3d engine multiplayer deathmatch

with multiple maps

20 player support optimized for lan as well

an outdoor terrain engine

with no shader support

and first person hands would definatly be important

and physics in multiplayer this also would be important

as i want to keep this simple as this would be my first attempt

also it would have to be cartography shop compatable for level creation

or failing that some sort of fixed level editor would be required

cool, the project im in, we are actually making are own editor, which could be fun for modding

really? its not that good, it was made with a dedicated 2d engine, and cant support any shaders or zlich, just basic diffuse maps and crappy vertex lighting, but its still alright

If you guys make things I will be happy to buy them.I know it probably doesn't make any difference since I am only one forum member but I want all of the media I can get my hands on.While FPSC has a fair amount of media to get going it doesn't take long for someone to discover there is necessary media that is not there. It's not TGC's fault as you can only include so many things, but it still an issue.
I know things don't sell well around here but I buy things all the time...sometimes too many...lol.
I think you guys are doing great work.I hope you continue it.
Another thing I have noticed is that if you make or do something for free there is always someone complaining. Not giving you honest criticizm but complaining and I know it gets irritating.
I have downloaded Crow's guns and I have always been happy with the results...for example.
Don't let someone with a bad disposition and a permanent frown get you down.A lot of people appreciate the work you guys are doing.

BTW I would like to have that gun if you don't mind.If not that's okay.I understand why you're irritated.I get that way sometimes, too.

Sure I make model packs to sell; I have also given away quite a bit of media, and helped others who needed advice. I see nothing wrong with that.
