I thought i read that specular lighting is taken into consideration in objects now. I can't seem to see any difference in my objects with specularity. I use TS4.3. When xporting to x and reloading i found it does save the specularity to the .x format. just curious to know if i miss read something or did something wrong.

I was wondering about this myself - what kinds of colouring does DBPro support? I.E what can be on an object when it is loaded, and what can be applied to an object after it is loaded?

In the first case, I can only seem to get diffuse and emissive light to work - nto specular and I'm not sure about ambient although I haven't really tried yet!

In the second case, from inside DBPro, it seems that only diffuse light can be applied. Is there any chance of this being extended? Or is it already possible?

Also, I had this strange problem with the ambient light casting shadows, i.e. it was either directional or point source. I thought the whole idea of ambient light was that it was ambient! i.e. everywhere. Tell me if I'm wrong because it will clear up my confusion. :-s

The modellers I use tend to let you set the colors of the object (diffuse, ambient, etc.) and then also a texture. But DBPro (patch 3) never took these color into account. For example, you have an object in a modeller with it's colors set to red and it has a black and white checker texture... it gets displayed in the modeller as sort of a red and black checker, but the texture takes over in DBPro (the object is black and white checker). I don't know if this is even supported or meant to be supported in DBPro, but my guess is that it really isn't. I forget what the DX8 Meshview tool shows for these "colored and textured" objects... it may even be a DX8 limitation.

As far as the specular lighting goes, it may be something similar.

Does anyone know if the color thing works in patch 4?
