Only if the model pack offer something that I want to learn how to make for myself. I buy model packs as reference materials rather than for re-use.

I don't I think its the lazy mans solution, I am not satified if I haven't done something myself, but I know there are people on the forum who want to shortcut things, the FPSC community seems to like model packs

Yeah, the demand here really pales in comparison to FPSC.

Like if you had a good quality set of arms, and 10 different guns all animated and rigged for FPSC, well that's how I think the most money could be made. Think about common FPS furniture too, that sort of stuff at a reasonable price will always sell.

There is money to be earned, it just depends on how well suited it is to products like FPSC, I'm not sure that there's a lot of demand from DBPro users these days, but it's worth stating that anything you made for FPSC would be fine for DBPro. Ideally having a little DBPro example code to control this stuff (like orientate the arms and gun to the camera and handle shooting and reloading in a little bit of test code). I think FPSC users would chew your arms off (pun! - I made a pun!) to get at a good matching set of animated and armed weapons.

i think the main problem is there isnt enough variety, if theres say only one pack out there that has 5new weapons and 5 player models, while thats good and all people who buy the packs games will look the same as anyone else who bought it which is a problem, so if someone were to make say 10packs for various game genre`s then the chances of 2 games using the same media is alot less but then again its bound to happen, and this is the main reason why people get models made exclusively for there games.

I don't think it's a solution for lazy people before you make the game
you must be sure that the game is fun to play, the fact that we have a
good storyline or a great scenes in our heads does not mean it will
be fun or addictive so some people use these packages to make
prototype and in the end they do the game models.
another reason that people buy those things is to learn/use something
else for example Torque got lots of packages but most package give you
about 1-2 characters with the source code on how to add them, or some buy those
for the documentation and I plan to buy 1 model pack
for the skeleton of the model (I will the Milkshape3D file).

So if you want to make a good model packs you need IMO to offer more
then the models with a good variety of models

I wouldn't buy a model pack, because I like to make everything myself, even if it's not as good. I don't like to be in a position where I have to say "look at this game I made. Oh, except that, and that......and that."

There's more personal achievement if it is done yourself. However, other people will want to spen all their time on gameplay and programming, and want some nice visuals that they can just plug in and use. Unfortunately, I'm not one of them.

The thing that could pursuade me, though, are items that no-one enjoys making. Designing and making main characters is fun, and really cool. However, making 7 different types of chest, 6 crates and 32 different-looking npc's is pretty dull and repetative work. That's the kind of stuff I think may sell.

I must say that I could really do with a basic set of tanks, soldiers and planes. Nothing special, you know? But I'm not about to fork money out for something I could make myself. I'm just hoping that eventually I'll find a basic set I can use so I can practice getting my game going.

THEN, I'll work on the graphical side of things.
