I will post this here due to it being a model and a kind of media. Let me start by saying I drew up an idea of a small one leveled game. It is of an office, you are an assassin/hitman sent to take out a high level office worker (I have no idea who he will be, some middle man who got to deep into some thing he shouldnt have, or some thing).

I will post screen shots of the level and models I make for this. This is the only reason why it is not in showcase.

To start the thread off, here is the lobby. You will be next to an elevator which you have used to get to the top floor. There are two public toilets next to the guard/reception station.

How are you doing the rooms in the screenshots? or is that part of the modeling .

It is part of the modelling. I create a box, flip the faces and edit the shape. I will texture it all, then add the entities and objects with fpsc.

Iam using 3DS Max 8. It takes a while to get the shapes right, with all the dimensions I have to set.

The doors are 80 units wide by 100 tall.
The room heights are 150 units.

Ill post more screen shots today when I get more done.

I might turn this into a fun game, themed upon the movie ' The Office'. I will model a red stapler and animate it for melee .

Thanks for all the comments on the level design.

It's nice to see a mix of technology here. I'm curious to see it come together.

Remember? One of the dudes who worked there was named MICHAEL BOLTON, after the crappy singer. And he refused to go by Mike instead. Damn that was a funny movie.

Looks good higgs. But you need more cubicles. Nobody has private offices like that. (Nobody I know at least).

I love the concept though. Are you going to have that guy come up from the basement with his stapler in a bloody rage?

Itll be great. Ill buy a copy of that.

In the US the movie was called Officespace I think. Great movie to base a game on.

Update:

@xplosys

If you can tell me a way to screen capture a movie and save the image, Ill get that model made. The codec's are stopping me from taking a screen shot and saving it.

A Quote from a post I did in Splash Damage forums.

Quote: "The stapler will be your weapon in the game while you try to set the building on fire. Knock out office workers with your big red stapler and get to the bosses room to start the fire."

So yeah, when you set the place on fire, you will have to get back to the lobby to end the game and win. I think it will be quite a game.

@xplosys

When I take a screen shot, or use your program, then open the file, its a blank windows media window (black screen).

Any ideas how to bypass what ever is stopping me taking screen shots?

@Higgins,

No, I thought you wanted to take a video capture. The program worked for me. Obviously you are taking screen shots of your work to post here, so I am a little confused about your question.

I have the DVD of "Office Space" and Iam trying to take an image of milton's face. But because when you try to take images from DVD's, some thing stops you keeping the screen shot you take. If you save the file you took of the DVD, close the player, open the file, its an empty player window screen shot.

If I remember correctly, I used to have the same problem taking screenshots from within Flight Simulator. It has something to do with the screen refresh rate. Did you try to pause the video before taking the screen capture?

Yes I did, you can paste it into an editor, play the dvd and it plays in the editor, its like there is some code that stops you taking images from DVD's, maybe a codec?

Working on it....

Ok, I have the same issue using Windows capture, no matter how I do it. However, I was able to do it easily with PowerDVD. It has a built in screen capture button on the main control and pasted perfectly to PhotoShop. I imagine other program like WinDVD also have the feature. I hope you have one of those players that come with a DVD drive.

Nice work, Higgins. Is the office block going to be on a high storey floor? The circular back section of the Boss' room looks like a glass wall looking out on the city would fit in beautifully.
