Ok, people don't like this kind of post because it shows that you have not read the stickies. In the sticky called "helpful posts about 3D" there is a long list of threads, one of which is a list of 3D modellers with reviews. Oh, and in another sticky it says in big capital letters "Do not ask about the best 3D modeller"

Why not jsut download the demos and find one you like? It's highly subjective. You might as well get the free ones. You have nothing to lose. Good luck.

Sorry for that; cannot change the title now

I did and, in my opinion, ZBrush presents the more user-friendly and performant production pipeline, not only for modelling but also for texturing.

Yes I know. But te fact that the final decision of using one of another lays on the buyer does not mean that one cannot communicate with other modellers to know their thoughts on the subject.

Anyway, the purpose of this thread is to share opinions based on features for 3D modelling and texturing -neither price, rendering, nor animation.

Well, if animation isn't an issue, I really recommend blender. It's free and has an awesome interface (well, I think so. Most people condem it to hell).

For what it's worth, Shade is pretty crap. The interface is terrible, I mean really terriblen. Thankfully at least it uses standard Windows menus, etc (unlike most 3D packages.. geez, get out of the ark soft|image), but it's very hard to use, naff icons that don't really represent what is going on, and a weird multi-window environment.

So, err.. no. Ignore it.
