To the mods:

If I have posted this in the wrong forum then please move it to where it is supposed to go. I apologize if I did not post this in the correct place.

Hello!

I hope this is useful to some of you. I have put up for sale a model pack consisting of five old trees. These trees are great for scary environments or for use in areas where vegetation has been long dead. Each tree model comes with:

- Three LOD levels (except the old tree stump model)
- Each LOD model in three model formats (MDL5, OBJ and MS3D)
- The skin/texture (in BMP or TGA file formats)
- The UVs ready to be brought into a paint program (PSD, EPS and BMP formats)
- A normal map

Here is are a few screen shots showing one of the trees:

No Skin:

Skin and Normal Map:

Yes, the last LOD level for this model (and one other) has a lot of polygons. You certainly don't have to use that model, but I thought it would be nice to include a few like this .

The entire collection of five tree models is only $15! You can see the other tree models here:

http://www.m3dd.com/OldTree/

I am currently only accepting PayPal. If you have any questions concerning the Old Tree Collection then please feel free to email me at:

contact@m3dd.com

BTW - My PayPal account is currently under the name of Treasured Word. Please don't think you have done something wrong if you do not see Master 3D Design.

Yeah no kidding Mastermind....this is something I could do in zbrush in like 10 minutes for all the trees( which is what it looked like he used and geting differant sub division lvls is no more then the movement of a slider) and throw on some textures.

Come on man....15$ for non animated entities? Even Jon gives a pack of like 30+ entities for that kinda price...tighten up or I'll make 7 trees in the same style and release um for free just to spite ya.

It's one thing if youve got some work in a product your trying to sell like what Codemasters doing....but this is outrageous.

Hey look Daniel has the right to sell for what ever amount he deems correct, after all it's his work. If you don't like the trees or think it's to high then move on, no need to be rude.

@Kram

And I have the right to cut his throat on this.....Watch me...Stores cant sell paper clips for 400$ each and this is the same thing.....inflate a product like this only gets your head cut.

And so hes got the right to post this stuff that insults me( cause I hate/detest people being taken advantage of) but I don't have the right to say I'll release this free?

Being rude is a case of personal perspective...I found it rude he'd offer this to people for 5x what its worth. And I don't have to move on....telling me to move on is like saying I should pass by someone getting robbed because it didn't effect me...I'm just as insulted by the fact you didn't really think before you posted vs my position. My comments weren't directed toward you and that's fine...You can say what you'd like in responce to my post aimed at Daniel....

In the same turn since this was my right maybe you should have read my post and moved on.
(Sounds kinda dumb me trying to take your right away to comment on this doesn't it? Yeah.....did when you said it too.)

@ Locrian

You know Locrian I could care less what you do, make, sell or whatever. I left TGC forums months ago, due to all the BS like this. I only came back after TGC put more mods in place to deal with the problem(s).

So you can cry all you want about the prices people put on the work they did, just as you have or will with your tree pack. Why would I give you $9.95 for models I can do myself? Does this give me the right to jump into your post and bash away? No, it doesn't. How about I put out a Free tree pack and then go bashing you for charging $9.95. Daniel isn't forcing anyone to buy his models, they'll buy them if they want.

Anyway I'm not going to argue with you, feel free to do whatever you want. I'll move on.

KraM is right on this, its his stuff, so he decides the price, and Locrian, how could you possibly know how much work he has spend on those trees?

Anyone does have the right to give or sell what they want at the price they want.
You don't have to buy it. if it is to high just move on and forget about it.

JEEZ!You people just STFU! You waste more space complaining about people wasting space than the people your bashing! Man, I thought I had no life.

Hi Dan, welcome to the FPSC forums, nice to see you around here, reminds me of old times

The trees look good, but there are 2 problems with them.....

1. the format.... FPSC cannot use any of those formats, so the user would have to convert them. FPSC only does use .x or .dbo file format.
2. These trees aren't FPSC ready at all.

For a number of us this isn't a problem at all, we do have applications to convert the format and we can write the file need to use these trees in FPSC also. But for most users around here, the don't know how to convert models and how to get them FPSC ready.

Fyi, this community exsist of a lot of beginners in game design neither having the age or skills YET to accomplish these tasks.

Btw, I love your website and the human models you do showcase. If somehow those could be used in FPSC, that would be awesome. Are you still using 3DGS for your projects?

OK, I'm allowing this thread to remain in operation for now; as long as the bickering is kept to a minimum. Those are some great looking trees, Dan; thanks for offering them to the community, but I would take Ben A's advise and convert them for FPSC use before asking for payment. As Kram and others have said, anybody can ask whatever they wish for whatever they have made themselves. Just because there are free trees on the net, doesn't mean they are the style that someone is looking for. If you want to make a list of similar items you found on the net somewhere, that's great; if you wan to offer an alternate pack for less or for free, that's great as well. But please don't pepper someone's thread with it, it's just not appropriate. I understand that some users may not know that there are cheaper/better alternatives out there; and you could inform them in your own thread.

Locrain, I respect your position on this matter (and as an artist yourself), but please do not let this escalate.

-Keith
