I've been playing with DBC for a while now, doing tutorials and such, and I've come to a conclusion. It isn't helping. I don't seem to be making any progress here. I had an idea a while back that might help me to learn to use this program, because I AM willing to learn.

I was thinking perhaps I can find an experienced programmer to sort of be an apprentice to. I'm not sure if anyone would be willing but I just thought I'd ask. Thanks.

Doing tutorials is only the beggining. When you know a few commands, you must try to make small games, like the "Guess a number between 1 and 100".
I think you should try to make that program or a pong. Don't begin with a "real game", but try to do some small games/demos.

Do you mean you're looking for a tutor, or do you mean in the traditional meaning of the word apprentice - get to do fairly dull tasks while learning.

There's a difference

I would help you, but I use DBP, not DBC. Yeah, but loook at the tutorials here and ask plenty of questions . Start simple, slowly expand on your programs .

Advance slowly, and do NOT become to jealous of the other games that the Pros on this site are making. When you get better you can try to understand the concept in their games a little more, but for now Start small, understand small commands like "Print" and such. Put them together and see what you get, and you WILL make mistakes. Learn from those. That's all I have to say.

I doubt you can draw me/60 by hand, so you REALLY can't draw ME/1, can you?

Jaskel: Drop me an email saying what you need help with. If it's from scratch I don't mind!
I can then start making some small custom tutorials.
Hope to hear from you.

I can try and help with stuff, but I've got DBP so things might be a little different. Whatever you need I'll try to walk you through.

E-mail me with 2D problems. I'm working on a TRTS (Text Real-Time Strategy) and platformer.

trst? sounds interesting. but who says text has to be restricted to only 2d?

well, my contact info is available I believe and I can probably answer just about any legitimate questions you have. But if you start asking me 10 questions a day like "how do i clear the screen or load an object" or anything else answered by the manual, then i'll start to ignore very quickly. But if its more like "i got a model loaded, how do i handle different stages of animation?" then no problem.
