I want to create a program rather like msn messenger. Obviously i need to use the multiplayer commands. But im unsure of how to go about it. I dont want to try anything because i dont really want to start fiddling with ip adresses but i fsomeone could give me a short sippet of code to show me how to go aout it i would be very pleased. Do you have to pay to be running an internet game (after all thats effectivly what msn is!). I have a 56k modem dial up connection (aol) what values do i have to put in the join net game and create net game? the program would have a maximum of 2 people at any one time. basiclly im asking for an internet chat room routine. Thankyou so much [img] [/img]

Well you should read up on the multiplayer and memblock commands as a first. Then study some simple multiplayer code and then try and attempt at making a simple programme like sending 1 number or a word to someoneelse. Its about experiementing my frined.

im aware of that and that is exactly what i have done ive made loads of them and non of them work perhaps its the ambiguaty of the dark basic help file for create game and join game. it says IP.... WHOSE IP!!! mine the other players. It says URL what the hell do i put there. it actually says both so am i supposed to put them both down separated with a comma. Ill post my code in the next thread.

Testing with out some sort of local network must be a nightmare.
Is there no way you could borrow another computer.

nope. erm note it wouldnt be a local network lan program. its an internet program [img][/img] im basically after the source code for a chat room type of thing. i want to set the conection create a game and start sending messages. i want someone to be able to set the connection, join the game and reciev my messages. when it says set net connection and it askes for the ip. Do the ip in both the host game and the clients game have to be the same ip and do they have to be the ip of the host? or does the host have to have his ip in and the client have his ip in?
