does anyone know how you can make a program execute itself as soon as you start up windows. similar to the way programs like (NEXT START) work is there some folder you have to put the executable in? is there a program available that can execute a program that you give for you? (I would much prefer a solution to the first!)
I have a word of advice...

You can put a shortcut to the program you want to run in the following
folder and it will be run when Windows starts up:

Start->Programs->StartUp

You've got the startup folder, which is the only place where programs should be in order to get them to run as soon as your in Windows.

If the program is placed in your Startup, it will run Everytime you start up Windows. What you probably want is to use the RunOnce registry key. Have your installer edit the Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce\

Place the path to your executable there and it will only run the first time Windows boots, then delete itself.

i never though of Microsoft or Norton program as evil
ya know a better question Frob is howto get something to work in the System Tray - because thats actually something i'd like to know, and if my suspicions are correct it will be a question you want to ask later on
