I'm about to buy FPSC - with no model packs included (can't afford them )

Is it worth buying?

I want to know if it's all its cracked up to be?

(also - could someone list what models are included in the £29.99 pack?)

FPSC is only as good as the person who uses it. I mean if you know basic level design and some basic understanding of scripting, then you can make a good game.

But FPSC has no load or save features. You need to go easy on what you add to the game. Do not add more than 3 people to a room, or you will become victom to the lag monster. I would like to say, keep it at 7 characters per level. You can respawn entities, so having 7 characters set to respawn when needed you can have a fun game.

I wont be listing the models you get, but you get enough to make some good games. You can also download free models from the forums, just go to the media section of the FPSC forums and check out the stickies.

Netdemons, there is no way to "script" save/load.

There is only one way to implement it, and I'm not going to go too far into it, but basically, you have to edit the source code--no easy job, and there's only one high profile project currently being done that implements save/load (Riker 9), but it's general consensus around here that it doesn't exist.

However, password systems (Finish a level, and you're given a password. Next time you play, enter the password to start at that level) are just now beginning to emerge. You'll have to wait and see how that pans out.

I believe a save/load feature will be an update into FPSC at sometime.
It is to important of a feature not to be added in the future.
As far as is it worth buying, that would have to be a yes from me as well.
Although not perfect, it is an interesting way to make games.

Thanks

maybe you should be directing your questions to TGC tech or customer support. We aren't TGC employees. And honestly when somone tells you to be patient, it means something. responding with "No" won't win you any beuty contest on this forum.

Drat! *flicks hair back*

I was only asking about how you lot bought it... didn't mean to make anyone angry.

well as Jrock said be patient. Most of us are EA users wich means all this was sorted out a long time ago and downloads were available to us as well as cds. But we have no idea what the norm is now.

When your payment is approved (may be a few days) you will receive a download link. It is the full program and you may use it until the CD arrives. Time frame to be determined by TGC. You can check your profile/orders to view the progress. Like the guy's said. Be patient.

Welcome to the frustrating world of game making.

Can you? How?

I know how you can do it but I wouldn't of thought it would work, because you order it off a different site - so how does it know your username on this site?

Thanks anyway guys. You've been a lot of help.

I've woken up early today just to see if I've got the link yet - but I think I'll only get it on Monday seeing as it says "you will get your download link after your order has been manually approved" - and I don't think they do that on sundays...

I am assuming that by different site, you mean the TGC FPSC home site. If you used the same e-mail address to order FPSC as you did to create your forum user, then you should be able to track it here.

Netdemons,

Good luck with the download.

Hope you get to make something for us to see soon and post some shots of your levels in the Showcase forum.
