After weeks of trying, and testing maps made with Hammer, Quark, Radiant et al, you'll be pleased to know ive found a pretty much infallible method for using Maps created within Hammer. Anyone with questions feel free to email me ([email protected])

However, after trying to develop my own editing tool for use with BSPs, im having trouble with lighting.

Is it actually possible to use dynamic lighting within a BSP?

Thanks for your time. (And patience...)

No, it defies the whole point of bsp, which is to be prerendered

Also, even quake 1 had a light source around the rocket fired from the... um, rocket launcher. Quite pretty it was too, as it flyed (flew even) down a narrow tunnel. So... how???

You can using C++ etc, but you cant in DBpro, yet...
Its a shame really, but i heard there gonna make their own world format which may support realtime lighting and man other cool things.

Cheers mate. Looks like ill have to take ravens advice n start making me own format n level editor etc... ho hum. Actually been thinking bout it for a while n ill admit some aspects do appeal. Others, meanwhile (own collision routines, speed optimising with objects etc) dont...

Quake-based engines use both prerendering and dynamic lighting, to maximize the speed without sacrificing effects
