This was my final for my 3ds Max class at Uni. The task was to design the next iteration of a car of your choice and create a high quality model of it. I chose the Maranello, and dubbed the new car the Ferrari Corredo. The look we were trying to achieve was a near-future next-gen car that still resembled its predescessor.

Here's my final A3 print (resized from 4961 x 3508 (at 300 DPI) so a large degree of resampling has occured which doesn't do the final render justice):

1000 x 707 (139 kb)

The model itself weighs in at 104,340 polygons, excluding the background scene and was created over the entire duration of the course (approx 10 weeks).

It looks good, weird sort of form though, but then its futuristic and we all know the future is going to be extremely weird and run by Totaltarianism etc. I would have used some flashy render techniques on this one, to impress those analysing your work, like HDRI lighting, radiosity, ambient occulsion etc.

I like it, my only crit would be that the text that says 'The heritage continues...' is in a font that doesn't really suit the rest of the piece IMO, but that's only a minor point.

It's a nice picture with the room, and all that. The car design isn't bad, I like the bonnet. The lights look a bit odd, there is some strange distortion bending them in all directions. The car ends up looking crosseyed. That appears to be some glass distortion error. That is a minor thing in such a huge picture of quality.

Yes, I noticed the same thing after I rendered it and it's to do with a refraction raytrace on the headlight cover's glass. It's still one of the things that really bug me because I didn't have time to re-render it before the submission deadline. Another thing I really dislike is the rear-window that I decided to omit to make it look a little more futuristic but it didn't work effectively and now it just looks odd.

Thanks for the kind comments everyone. Now I'm going to start thinking about what to model next.
