There you go
Autodesk website

Have the price too;
$3495

If you want cheap and decent 3D modelling, try some of the following
Milkshape - Excellent for games, modelling + animation + good range of export and import options

Lithunwrap - For UVMapping (free) UVmapping is setting how a texture will be layed out on the model, you can also export a 2D version of your model as a template to paint your textures on, then apply them in MS3D

Gimp - Free power 2D tool, good for making those textures

I would follow tutorials to get the whole concept in your head and how to do things, it will take a lot of practice to get good models, you can demand good models based on applications (unless they are premade models) it takes a little elbow grease for good results

You won't be able to buy 3dsmax4 anywhere, as Autodesk won't sell copies of previous versions (I've tried).

Be careful if you buy it secondhand, because you won't legally be able to use it unless Autodesk agree to transfer the license (they won't, I've asked).

There is apparently a way to legally use pre-loved versions of max but it involves companies that have gone bankrupt and are liquidating thair assets. This is just what I've read, I don't know for sure.

[edit] I currently use Hexagon to model with, and I love it. It costs $150, which I think is a bargain. Be warned, it has a few bugs, so if your one of those anal types that can't wait for patches, you might be better off using something else.

I have 3ds max, and it is THE best modeller around. Get gmax if you are trying to get into modelling with max, but only if you want to use max; if you start with gmax (or 3ds max) , you will not be able to use any other modeller without learning a lot of it all over again.

If you want freeware, get blender 3d, it is by far the easiest freeware application to get started with, VERY easy to learn and quite powerful. (i think it is open source too)

may god have mercy upon my enemies, I sure as hell won´t.
