oki i know this is a little sad, but i've made myself a little semi-pro looking icon for darkbasic pro

16x16 4bit (16 colours)
32x32 4bit (16 colours)
16x16 8bit (256 colours)
32x32 8bit (256 colours)
48x48 8bit (256 colours)

i may think about adding 16bit ones later, but really with 8bit the colours are about as good as they're gonna get and don't see the point ... especially as only WinXP/Win2k/Win.Net systems would be able to use them.

i still can't hotlink so erm, i'll have to hand it to someone to upload (sad i know as its only a matter of like 10kb lol)

know the problem i'm having is that DarkBasic Pro doesn't like it
but it won't even import standard 8bit or 24bit colour bitmaps
well probably just a problem with 1.0.9.2 Editor, perhaps gonna be looked into later - seems annoying as it'll not use cursors i've noticed, even animated, just doesn't like icons (ho hum) ... or rather can't read them, so i'm unsure if it'll compile with them.

DB Icon - could try a right-click saveas (it shows as a bitmap in the browser which is why i've added this)

Personally I prefer DBP's default icon (not after P3.1, but the one on original exes) - I think the above one looks a little, well, tacky, DBP's is simple, but smart.

DBP compiles new icons fine, I got a custom icon to work fine on my exe. However you have to be careful about the type of bitmap used (standard Windows 32x32 256-bit for me). The problem with reading cursors only applies if you load the program through the recently used projects list.

yeah i know it looks a bit ... bleck! in the picture
download the actual icon itself - certainly looks alot better on the desktop, especially when it resizes in XP/.Net

i really don't like the DBpro defualt icon - its very yuck!
they have it in the Compiler Directory if you still want to use it, but personally i hate that golden pyramid. Always have prefered the yellow one with the funny blue symbol (^_^)
the main reason for that one used for the UIS is cause its about as DB as i could get without really taking something they've already used...
i want to make a new one - but i can never think of good logo's, or even worse is i can think of them but not think of howto actually make them neatly in an art package

ho hum (^_^) but this one should do for a while, it still keeps saying it can't read the icons - i musta tried every feasible setup for it!
just pops-up "cannot read from *.ico" and if i load the project it refuses to open any of the source until i delete the icons fromt the list, as it add them just can't use them

Can't say that myself. Actually, I think it would have been nice to have had the golden pyramid on the black background but with the DB logo in the middle. Still, I generally use custom icons anyway.

Actually, for icon art I use a program called Image Editor which comes with Delphi 2x and upwards, it is very simple but specifically designed to create icons and cursors, and gives very good results.

I like Raven's Icon, but it looks similar to Lee/Mikes logo? I prefer it (only one triangle at a time tho )

As for the Icon problems yep I get that as well, it only randomly works and sometimes the compiler says it can't find it.

However, any registry editing program will let you add your own icon to a finished exe, personally I do it with InstallSheild and it works perfectly

no he means registry editing... you only edit resources for compiling - registry for system use

why would it kill me to have stuff of you're on my system, indi?
the one i've made was from the watermark logo they have for DB Standard (^_^)
i liked it iin UIS and just keeping it for a while ... need to make one for FMTau too soon.
