I think I know what you mean... Let's say each sprite is 20x20 pixels, apart from the background of course, then I would to something like this:
If mouseclick()=1 and mouseX()=>Sprite X(1)-10 and mouseX()<=sprite X(1)+10
If mouseY()=>Sprite Y(1)-10 mouseY()<=Sprite Y(1)+10
Show sprite 1
Endif
Endif
That would create an visual box around the sprite, and if the player clicks with the mouse while the pointer is inside this box, the sprite is shown.
