You can use the page up and page down keys to move the entity up and down.It's useful for putting an entity on a shelf.

As FredP stated, you can use pageup and pagedown when placing the entity to move it either up or down. What he did not state I noticed, was that you can also press the Enter key to make it go to the same level as other things, for example move the entity under the table but do not place it, then press Enter.
