Hi all,

Just a quick post but check out this new page to see all the entries to the retro compo so far. This is more a checklist than anything - if you've done your game but it's not on the list please re-send it to me or email me.

Well since mine isn't finished, I'd better get back to work.

Could you also post my site up as a link when you put them all up on the final list as the download seems to work for some people. And you could put it on the current list also even if the link is a bit crap. Thanks

Of course, if it's on your application form it'll appear on the info page for your game. This is assuming I ever get to download it of course - it doesn't matter if the download works for some people, if it doesn't work for me it doesn't get judged

Cheers,

Rich

Ive uploaded a test zip file (CannonBallsTxt.zip) because I'm new to FTP stuff, do you know how I can download the file again, cos I want to see if it uploaded properly. I just needed to try it so that I'm not pannicking on Monday when I can't work the program.

Thanks Again!

You can't download it again, our incoming directory is protected against that (this massive warez spreading opportunity if everyone could upload and download from our FTP server freely!).

I'll download it and let you know.

Cheers,

Rich

Sorry but Mines not going to be one of them I am really gutted about it as I have been working like a trojan on it, it's now 5 am and there is never enough time to finish it so I am ducking out to my own horror..

I could have had a good nights sleep too.

Maybe next time..

lol... i decided that myself about 2days ago when i noticed my 'to do' pile and the fact i'd only made the models, animated them, skinned them and made the basic game - if i'd worked like a dog i'd of been able to finish, but then i'd of wasted a few days from other things for the possibility of a Graphics Card i've already got and a subscription that if i was really that bothered about i'd just buy

prefer to just help out my mates to be honest ... some good games there, and to admit there will be some tought competition against each other. But none i've seen look particularly polished or anything, so it'll be interesting to see which one actually wins tommorrow morning

OMG 77 entries?!!!

First I was hoping for a place in the top three, but now I would even be satisfied with a place in the top ten and even that is a small chance.
Ah well, I think we will just have to wait for the results.
When will you be ready with the judging?

Mine's submitted, I passed out while it was uploading though, looked through the ftp message list and it said it worked O.K, and so 'cos you can't see anything in the incoming directory I re-sent and it said the file already exists so I'm sure it got there
Should be saved as BombKid.rar

Odd coincidence that my Defender Clone (called 'Protector' - there is a new commercial Defender game, so I thought it best to be careful) ended up next to 'Defender 3D' in the list.

I wonder if any of the others are Defender clones (this is the 3rd one I have written in my life) and I just noticed there is one just appeared in the DB1 gallery?

Looks like allot of Pong & Breakout games, I did not even enter my old DBv1 Breakout 3D game (http://website.lineone.net/~mcardellg/) as its not been updated in a year, perhaps I should have.

Can`t wait to see these games, good luck to everyone.

True, I was really looking forward to that also. It's interesting that the most "talked about" games amazingly never got finished Where-as most of those 92 are ones you've never even heard about.

I had several late nights getting 'PROTECTOR' to a point where there was sufficient functionality that I could call it a complete game, its still missing bits that should be there (no 2 player, no screen mode setup, no title sequence with instructions) & there is loads of stuff I want to add (extra screenery, changing backdrops, more aliens etc).
