As far as I know, all ChrisB used was 3DS Max. Have you used any tutorials for Milkshape or TS? It doesn't matter what program you get if you don't take the time to learn it.

Liz, its not the program that does the animation, its the user. So if you cant be bothered to learn how to animate, stop asking pointless questions.

There is no magic program when it comes to animation, unless you want something cheap looking like "The Movies".

It sounds like you already have what you need. Now it's time to hit-the-books and learn how to use them.

Well, Higgins has every right to be angry here. If you can't be bothered to learn how to animate, yet you still want to animate, you have no chance. Learn how to animate, since no-one will do it for you, and the program certainly won't either. Stop being lazy and just LEARN how to animate.

Liz, you still think a program is going to do all the work for you. I dont think you have any clue about animation do you? Do you even know how to make a game?

Liz is a she, Mr Love. If she was so great at animation, then why does she need to ask what is the best program to do it in.

The answer, I have already given. It is up to the user to animate, not the program. Animation takes time and skill, you wont get any thing done faster by buying software.

If any thing, I am helping you, by saving you some money on wasted products.

higgins isn't being poop liz, he's right.

It doesn't matter if you're a mother of 2 or not.

If you want to make animations, you're gonna need to put the time in to learn. In all honesty the cost of the animation program is irrelevant. What really matters is how much time you spend practicing.

I found CharacterFX very easy to get into - but for cut scenes it's probably a bit rough and ready and useless really.

If you want to make character models for FPSC, learning Anim8or and CharacterFX is probably a nice and easy way into it.

If you want to make cut scenese for FPSC then you need to first consider how you'll get the media, animate it, orchestrate a scene, then get that scene into FPSC. If you can get ok results with the Movies (how I have no idea!), then continue to use that unless this is something you have to do. There's a good couple of years in learning how to make Machima properly, and it's not worth it for a FPSC game.

Personally, I'd avoid movies and go for pre-calculated movement and animation paths with dialogue, like a little module added to the FPSC game engine to allow cutscenes to be played back - that would be great, because it could be seamless. It depends on how much you want it and how much time your prepared to spend learning or coding.
