I was wondering, for programs like FPSC and DarkBasic, what kind of procresesor would be best a Intel or AMD?

Thanks for any help,

p.s. I would like to know if a AMD would be good enough, because there is a huge sale on Tigerdirect right now!

AMD is good if your playing games all the time, so I guess AMD would be good for FPSC. I have one my self.

Intel is best! I play at 33fps and sometimes even at 34fps. The FPSC record on My computer is 174fps!!! (A strange thing happend with the engine I guess.) And My graphics card is crap! Only nvidia 5700LE...

AMD is the performance king right now, with Intel playing catch-up. In fact Intel for the first time is basing the design of their newest chips off of someone else, and that someone else is AMD

I have a subscription to Maximum PC and CPU, and AMD is definitely where it's at (for the time being), and I can't remember the last time I read either magazine recommending an Intel rig.

I have one Pentium computer and three AMDs. Needless to say I like AMD better. If you want to pay an extra $200.00 (American) for the Intel stamp on the chip then fine. I have yet to have any task the AMDs can't handle.

Mr Love, do you even have an AMD processor? Why do you think they are bad?

arguing processors is like arguing polotics........It's all personal preference. I myself use AMD and will always use AMD. The reason:

When Intel chips melt AMD is just warming up. also I think they multitask better than Intel chips.

But this is my opinion.

It's not only too many opinions, it's too many uninformed opinions.

Do a little research with the top independent test labs, especially in the gaming fields, who test CPU's on a regular basis. You will find that AMD is indeed the gaming platform of choice, even though Intel spends more advertising money with the mag's.

As was stated before, both are excellent processors, and it would take some pretty serious equipment and testing to see the difference in performance on any given chips. If you just want the Intel name, you will have to spend a little more.

Yes the bottom line is that either one will be just fine. But if you're a benchmark junkie who like to stay on top of the numbers game, then go for AMD.

I've been an AMD fan for years now, but if Intel can raise their game, I'll have no problem switching back.

i have tried both amd and intel, and if you are buying an intell, the money your save is wasted in the graphics card you need to buy.
amd is a great stable chipset and with the relese of windows vistat it seem that microsoft is at way with intell, windows vistas minmum requments are tow high for the averge intell.

( do meane to hijak but the open bata for windows vista ends the 13 of this month, if you bata it you have the opertunty to resive a free version or a redused price version)

I've got 2 computers at the moment. 1 with an Intel CPU and 1 with an AMD CPU. When the Intel CPU is getting quite hot when you stress it to o much, the AMD CPU isn't! I've always used an Intel CPU but now I'm more satisvied about my AMD 4200+ Dual-Core. The Dual-Core chips of AMD are great! When Intel starts making good CPU's again I would inform me about it because I need to be sertain 'cause they are quite expensive.

Raise your hand if you know nothing about hardware and messed up your graphics display card.

*Looks around.*
*Walks over to a seat*
*Jerks Mr. Loves Hand up*

Now promptly search for "AMD" on this forum. There is a debate like this and AMD PWNS Intel on design and function. It IS the i386 chip design (both AMD and Intel use it) but AMD has IMPROVED on the design while Intel stays true to it.

And the most convincing argument is

"AMD has the cooler name. Advance Micro Design... Pentium just means 5, you want to go up to your freind and say 'I have a Five?'"
