Okay, my class started. Went okay. One problem is that the code we are using is projected by an LCD projector onto a screen. Kids at the back of the class are having trouble seeing the code on the screen. At home here preparing for tomorrows class I see that Dark Edit has the option of setting the Font and size. But when I increase the font size the letters on the screen begin to overlap. It seems to happen for every font listed in the font setting dialog box. Is there some other option I am missing. I can make the letters larger (say 20pt, but then the code is unreadable becase the letters overlap.) So what was the point in making this an option in Dark Edit???

TDK also created a code editor for DBC. I'll look up the thread for you. Maybe it has that possibility.

He stopped developing it though. (He stopped with this forum).

Or I also found codeKeeper. I had troubles getting it to work on my pc, but I might and you might try it again.

<edit2> couldn't run it because a file is missing. And the download url is off...
No support from there.

Wow, that is weird. I've never used anything besides 10 pt. before so I never noticed it as a problem. My IDE works fine with bigger font sizes, but right now, it's only for DBPro.

You may just have to use notepad for your students to see the code, then copy & paste it into DarkEDIT. Kinda dumb, but I don't see much for other options right now.

Good performance is better than a good excuse.

or you could export the document as a html file then open it up in a webbrowser and zoom it from there.

or use the projector to zoom? (assuming it has a zoom function) or use screen magnifier or something?

The projectors are mounted from the ceiling and out of reach. Im not sure what the remote capability of them are.

Its just that I found it odd that the DarkEdit program had an option for changing the font and size, but there seems no be a programing flaw where the font metrics stay at 10 point no matter the font size chosen.

I have not written any kind of compiler/interpreter for 20 years. So Im not going to do that.

Its only a 5 day course and tomorrow its half over already. I just wasnt sure if there was as checkbox or something I missed in the DarkEdit options. But today I confirmed that I get the same problem on my home Win98SE machine and the WinXP machine at school.

Im not progressing as well as I had hoped but the younger kids, which is most of the class, think its cool just to be able to "drive" a box around the screen with only a few dozen lines of code.

Thanks to everyone who replied.
