Wouldn't it be better to have a hundred or two hundred line compitition thread? As it is, 20 line challanges just end up being 200 line programs with : between them. It makes them hard to read, and difficult for newbies to understand, which rather defeats the point of the 20 line challange in the first place right? "Which I assume was to provide the community with code samples."

no the point of the 20 line challenge is to show off just what you can squeeze into 20 lines. If it happens to educate people in the process then thats a bonus.
Heck back in the ol' atari magazines we had a '5 liner' yes they use ':' then but it's none the less cool to see what people can achieve with a limit on their resources.

Why not make a 20 liner to change a '20 liner' entry into a normal source file!

the way i write my 20 liners is i pick a few things i want to accomplish,
and figure out how to do them efficiently.
then you get some thigns working, count how many lines you've used, optomize, and continue.
i certainly don't just write them with ":"s in there. that 's
just how they get compressed.

you actually have 500 lines to work with if you do it right.
i did all these, and they all qualify.

and with each one i provide the code all spread out. you CAN learn
from doing this. You can't cram every feature into every game, but you can get good at a couple in each one.

keep the 20 line challenge and bring bakc the #@&!*@# prizes!
(they stopped having prizes as soon as i started writing 20-liners)
