I've seen many threads asking the question, "Is it worth it?" by prospective users of FPSC. The answers have been varied, however I think for the most part positive. I have also seen many threads by users that are dissatisfied with some or all of the program or features.

When I first saw FPSC, I thought it looked a little cheesy (cheap), but like it could be a lot of fun. I have always loved first person shooters and I thought that creating my own would be more enjoyable over the long run, as opposed to buying a single game that I would only play a few times. At the price of a single game today, it seemed to be a good buy.

The more I worked with FPSC, and found that I could create my own segments/models/characters/scripts, essentially my own custom world, the more interesting and valuable the program became, from purely an entertainment point of view. I never had the notion to make and sell professional quality games, although I'm not saying that it's not possible. I think it is an amazing piece of work for the price.

Well anyway, that's my take on it. I would like to know others thoughts as well, just to get a greater understanding of the community vision as a whole. Perhaps I am missing something, or not seeing the whole picture. So I ask the question, Was it worth it?

BTW: This should not be a discussion on what should or should not be included or updated, or anything to do with TGC, but simply your thoughts on the question. You saw it, you bought it, you've used it. Was it worth it?

In my opinion you can create a decent game as long as you design your game around FPSC's limits. I find if you try to be too innovative and ground breaking with it you get errors. Just keep in mind what it can't do. Plus don't make your levels too big.

I have only done some crapgames so far, but when I have enought entitys in My 3D library then I will make a game that will look as far from a FPSC game that is possible!

I will make mission based action with written scripts. (I have worked with film and TV it helps.)
And I will change everything from guns to enemys and also animations(!) Huds, and Yes everything.. And I wont use a single FPSC entity (almost). I have already drawn a awesome map on paper, its a better version of a map that I made for "ACTIONMAP 2" but this time it wont be for free!

The only thing I am worried about now is the low support for landscapes. My enemys are falling right thru the ground! But otherwise FPSC is worth the money by far! Working with FPSC is fantastic and all the time I have spend on it has learned Me alot about making games...
In My situation FPSC was the best thing that courld ever happen to Me...
Yes its worth it!!!

That only factors in with load times. Good level construction can lead to very big levels with no lag.

I think FPSC is an amazing program that came off as questionable at first, but surely you know that whole noob phase? Ever since I bought it, FPSC has enveloped much of my use of the computer and my skills are always expanding and new ideas are always flowing into my head. Also, I think the way the forums for FPSC bring so much of the FPSC users out there together is stunning (another focuspoint of my cpu usage) Who needs chat rooms when you can talk to people about stuff you are all interested in (i do use chatrooms though) To sum it up, yeah it was worth it!

You don't have to be insane to answer my questions, but it helps
