*LOOK FARTHER DOWN FOR NEW DESIGN*

hey guys! i've been working on this model for a little while and i'd like to get some feedback on it. i'm going to be using it for a game that i'm working on(not much done on it though).

[edit]
i would also like a little help. My model doesn't have a texture, yet. if anyone would like to help me UV it and texture it that would be a great help.thanks

this is a wip still. heres the pic(sorry for it being so big)

It's good, but it's a bit fat in places.

Watch out with smoothing...polygon count can skyrocket with that.

I hate you. You hate me. Trust me, we both know it...no need to let me know everytime we meet.

@greenlig
no i'm using wings 3d but i've been thinking about buying it though.

@Mucky muck ninja
thank you

@Pincho
you mean like that part above the engines and the wings. hmmm... they could be a little skinnier.

@insanity
ya know what you meen. double smoothed version is almost 4000 polygons.

if you look at my model from the engine view then you might have seen those few extra polygons that are sticking out. theyre really starting to bug me so i think i'll try to get rid of them.

Milkshape is overpriced really. Try blender, free, VERY powerful and CAN EXPORT animation to DBPRO. I found an exporter that does work so yer. Good little tool.

Keep up the good work and post updates!!

From a design perspective, lay off the meshsmooth it really doesnt make it look any better, i personally dont like the design for a start remove the 'spoiler' ?, and the design could be less round, unless your going for an organic ship look then i would change things like the positions of the missiles and design of the cockpit to look llike its been grown and the wings could be more conventional.

Thats about it i guess, cause currently it looks alot like a turret.

Hallowed are the ori.

ok a few changes. I took dark coder's advice and took off the little spoiler thing which took off a lot of polies. Also i made a small missile model and put one under each wing and changed the former missle launchers to headlights. I also fixed the small problem on the back i was having and made a minor change to the laser guns.

edit
hmm i still need a name for it. pic!

the cockpit looks a bit weird to me, i think it should be more rounded like on an F15 or something

at the moment, dark coder's right, it looks like a turret cockpit.

you need some smoothing groups to define different parts (lasers, engines etc), which will stop the creasing you're getting.

personally, i liked the spoiler

also, stop smoothing it.

I don't have a sig, live with it.

Its an alien ship, what kind of head do you think they would have? Some thing that fits into the cockpit of his ship, no dought.

i'm saying that having such a high and exposed cockpit doesn't make much tactical sense.

unless this is supposed to be cartoony, in which case; fine.

@greenlig: I actually have it on my PC the only thing is is that I have dbc not dbpro, and i really like wings interface.might use it when/if i get dbpro

new update: I took off the missiles on the bottom because they actually look kind of stupid. it felt too exposed, i mean all it takes to destroy it is hit the missile on the bottom. instead i have a missile bay at the front of the fighter. Oh ya and about the cockpit, its made of a clear type of adamantuim so its virtually indestructible. I also added a new engine onto the back of it so it doesn't look so round.

My Space sucks, but the model doesn't Its a good start to modelling one, but its does need work here and there, but it seems people have given good advice on this.

But please, turn down the smoothing, I only generally use it if I am doing high poly work, or just to make head modelling more convenient (Rather using a sphere for a head model, I start off with a box, which is why I smooth)

With Sci-Fi spacey things, I wouldn't be suprised if I saw a fight with the cock pit on the wing.

Its a good start, The edges need to be a bit more sharp on the wings, to give it more of a streamline feel.

ok i'm completely restarting with a whole new design. i might use the old when for something else but this new model is totally different. I'm basing it kind of off an Xwing but there are some changes to it.

150 polygons

there is a missile bay under it that you can't see from that angle and an exhaust pipe thingy in the back.

I like the bottom design. It looks like it has no cockpit- just a windowless nose like that containing a sensor array. I think that's a cool thing.

Looks cool, both are orignal designs, which can be hard to do.
