I recently bought Treemagik and noticed that there was no way to increase the width of the branches. I may have missed something because that seems to be a very important feature.. Any ideas on how to make the branches wider in Treemagik without exporting it to my 3d modeling program(s)?

If you have the last known version of Treemagik G3 that was released by Aliencodec, then you are probably noticing the same problem all of us registered owners have seen.

Basically, a lot of the 3D branches that are generated are NOT wide enough to support attaching a 2D-plane to themselves. The 3D branches need to be wide enough so the 2D-planes can attach to them so it doesn't look like the 2D-planes are hanging off the edges of the 3D branch. To me, it's a problem with the way G3 generates the 3D branches. I believe too that we should have control over each branch that is generated.

What's funny is the demo version is version 1.02 and the last known version is 1.03. It's been how many months since The Game Creators have taken over this product only to repackage the same bugged version instead of fixing the existing problems. That's pretty sad.

So there isnt a way to control the width/size of each branch...
Anyone have an idea of when this issue will get fixed?

Branch
~Control over width
~Control over length
~Control over complete placement of branch, just like with the trunk.

Rich,Rick, and others at TGC. This would prove to be extremely usefull for all.. And it would save me from going into wings 3d or hexagon...

Hope it gets fixed soon!

Here are some idea for future development of Treemagik G3

~Ability to create your own setup for the leave planes.
~Ability to create self-shadows
~Optional Normal Map for the bark (So you can see the normal map working in the "previewer"
~Normal Map (Bark) Editor with the ability to add extra detail the realistic trees have.

I think the product has great potential but I couldn't use it the way it is designed now. Here's what I did:

1. Created the trunk and branches in G3.
2. I took the trunk and the bottom branches (which are usually thicker) and manipulated them in Milkshape3D.
3. I created my own 2D planes for the other branches/leaves.
4. I replaced the low resolution textures with high-res textures and uv-mapped again.

Here's the results:

Inc Trees 1
Inc Trees 2
Inc Trees 3
Inc Trees 4

The hi-poly versions of G3 trees are usually around 1400 polies yet I was able to manually create trees that were under 700 polies.

I just hope that somebody at The Game Creators has some coding experience so they can make G3 the product it was meant to be.
