I was thinking of buying a new system,
Would it be a good idea to have a section on the site dedicated to hardware / system combo with the demos as benchmarks to give the group some direction in what Video Card, Memory, CPU, Operationg system really is the best "Bang for the Buck".

I dont see much point - anything fast will produce better results than anything slow.

yes but i think its more on a point what systems perform better...

like does the Gigabyte GXA7 AMD768 Motherboard w/1.2Ghz AlthonXP run faster than the Chaintech VIA KT-266 768 Motherboard w/1.2Ghz AlthonXP?

i quite like the idea, work on a basic setup for a program like 3DMark - design the possible demo's and i'm sure a few of the users around here would work on the tech demo's for you
use the time to detect the time take for tasks / FPS / Number of Task = 3D Mark for that demo...

i think it's a good idea, and no doubt if you could get it workin Rich may set aside some space and make a page for the system specs to be uploaded with thier DBP Marks
if you need DLL's for OS versions, DirectX versions and such myself and TAToad have made these (you'll have to email me if you want mine as i've taken them form my site forum due to redevelopment)
