I'm just wondering if someone could do me a favour; convert this .X-file to a .3ds-file so I can UV-map it in anim8or.

Or, maybe name a program that can convert .X fo .3ds-files?

Thanks!

Look up Deep Exploration. Get the trial. It is probably the best thing for converting ever. I use it sooooo much. But heres your file.

I'm slightly wondering what that means... you hate deep exploration or something? or was that comment towards me? In which case,I still don't know what evangelical means

Don't get me started on that! We had a bunch of those in London on Friday, wearing t-shirts saying 'jesus loves you', they don't realise they're actually scaring people away from the religion.

Stora, for future conversions, do try to use another app, you might not be so lucky next time you need a conversion, deep exploration is great, once the trial runs out and then you have to pay if you wanna continue with it, lithunwrap, although a UVMapper, is excellant for conversions, try it.

Anim8or can't UV map anyway. You need Lithunwrap to UV map a model for anim8or, and Lithunwrap will load X files or 3DS files.

Benny53,

Another advantage of deep exploration is animation.
You can load an object (obj, 3ds etc) that does not have animation, and add animation to it in DE. For example you can animate rotating tyres on a vehicle or a propeller on a aircraft..

just two examples which I have done!

Yes, it can. More or less. ALthough not as great as Lithunwrap, but as I prefer to program rather than make models, I tend to stick with the method I find easiest. Like Anim8ors fairly simpel UV-mapping, if you can call it that.
I don't know if you ever have tried it, but this how I do to texture my objects in Anim8or.

I select the polygons I want to put the texture on, select the camera viev that the polygons are facing, press the "UV"-key, and then use the scrollwheel and right mousebutton to scale and position the texture on the object. And I say, it does seem to be working well.
By doing this, I managed to make this desk I'm attaching.
Of course, Anim8or fails to export models with a texrue, so I just texture the models in Darkc Basic:

And all this pays off in the end:

Ah, I remember downloading that once, only to become confused. Gotta look up the conversion thing...
*Look look*
Yah, it did. Sweet!

Well, it started off as a Micro-Machines rip-off. But I found out that I didn't know how to make the car behave as I wanted, so some kind of small soilders-thing, yes.

Stora, that kind of happens when you don't know how to UV Map, but I think Lithunwrap is probaly the best UVMapper or convertor you can get for free. Nice desk by the way

Yah, I could really use some normal looking character's. Avarage-looking persons. That would be really nice if you could do one or two

Ah, nice you think it looked good. Thanks.
But how do you mean by "that kind of happens when you don't know how to UV Map"?

It means, lithunwrap was confusing to me too, before I learnt how UVMapping works, and what to do was pretty simple when I picked it up again.

Glad you got that to work. Anim8or exports models with a texture so long as the textures are in the directory where your game is being made. So put your textures there before you UV map the model.
