Hey guys,

I've been busy on my multiplayer game and finally it's just about ready to be released. But I have a few "how to do's" before exporting it onto the web.

1. In the demo video (on fpsc offical website) it shows the person adding an emission effect to some cans. Where smoke comes out. I was wondering how you do this?

2. When you export the game it has the "FPSC" tags on your .exe - I was wondering if it was possible to change this? (It's some writing below the filename but next to the icon)

3. Is it possible to change the icon? I don't want all my games having the FPSC icon when they could have mine.

Thanks guys.

I understand that there are some programs out there that will change the icon and information. I have not got any to work yet. Perhaps someone who has got one to work will let us know.

A simple way to solve your problem, if you are just distributing the files 'as is' without creating a front-end or using an installer, is to create a shortcut to the exe from outside of the folder that contains the exe. Then people will only see your shortcut and the game folder.

You can right-click on the new shortcut and select properties. Under comments, you can type what people will see when they mouse over the shortcut.

Not perfect by any means, but like I said a simple solution.

EXE Wrapper does not work. It will change the icon, but then the game won't work. The data for the game icon is written into the game code somehow. Changing the icon data changes and corrupts the game code.

Hmm...

I hadn't thought of making a shortcut to it, I suppose you could even make a masking program to start it with. Something like a simple .swf or .html page.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Well, the emission is nothing more than a decal in the entity bank. Not sure if you got that already.

erm... got to sound clever...give a good reply, got to sound clever...give a good reply:
yes

I know it'll be stored in a file somewhere, it's just how to change it?

I had an idea on how to change the game logo - why not (instead of going into the coding)just change the fpsc logo? Keep the filename the same but change the look of it. Then when you export the game it'll take that logo instead?

The new icon needs to be the same size and color format as the original.

... and needs to have the same text description attached, or at least exactly the same text description file size.

Pretty difficult to accomplish.
